New heated mattress pad won't warm up. Controls keep blinking.

I've used different outlets. Control is SimpliTouch K85KQP

one of our controls keeps blinking as well...can't seem to solve it. :( It's our biggest snow storm in 60 years...we need warmth, lol!

  • saustin43 Dec 27, 2008

I am having the same problem. One of the controls starts blinking about one minute after it is turned on and there is no heat on that side. I emailed Sunbeam customer service and this is the email I received. I have done everything suggested three times now and it still does not work.

Thank you for your E mail. My name is Holly S and I apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced and I would like to help resolve this situation.

"FF" or a blinking light will display meaning “Fault Found”. The “fault” is in the amount of power available to the blanket, mattress pad or throw.

There are several causes to this problem:
    1. Bedding product is plugged into an extension cord, surge protector, power strip, or not plugged into a direct wall outlet.
    2. Bedding product wasn't plugged in properly.

To FIX this problem, do the following to reset your bedding product:

    1. Unplug the power cord from the electrical connection.
    2. Unplug the cord from the actual bedding product itself.
    3. Re-plug the cord into the bedding product. Make sure the connection is secure and complete.
    4. Re-insert power cord back into a wall outlet.

If the 4 steps above are not followed in order, the bedding product will not properly reset. After resetting and the problem still persists, the blanket, mattress pad, or heated throw and control(s) need to be sent into our factory for repair or replacement.

If the unit is covered under the warranty:
    1. The unit needs to be shipped into the factory for repair or replacement.

If the unit is out of warranty:
    1. The unit can be shipped into our factory for repair or replacement for a repair/replacement cost. Below is a list of repair costs.

Below is the address to send in your bedding product:
    Sunbeam Products Inc.
    Blanket Service Station
    P.O. Box 469
    224 Russell Drive
    Waynesboro, MS 39367

When sending in your bedding product, include your first and last name, full address, phone number, Style # (located on the back of the labeled control and the left hand corner of the blanket label) and the problem being experienced. If you have a Call Record number, include that number on the top of the letter, also please send a copy of this E-Mail.

Our controls were both blinking, but it was because the mattress pad was not COMPLETELY plugged in to the cord. I pushed it in all the way (with it unplugged from wall socket), then when I plugged the cord back in to the socket--no blinking.

Our problem was solved by resetting controls as follows (both control knob green lights were blinking) we unplugged electrical cord AND blanket socket. Plug the blanket socket in FIRST then plug electric cord into wall. Hope this helps.

Why has my heated mattress pad stopped working?

Electronics fail. Sounds like the digital controller has failed. A Google search finds others with the same problem. Biddeford models come with a 5-year warranty, so if yours is less than 5 years old, I suggest you contact Biddeford by telephone: 800.789.6441 or visit their website: http://www.biddefordblankets.com/warranty.asp

Electric blanket won't heat

Take the help of your mattress pad company or look into instruction manual. Do not operate it unless you are familiar with it. You should call the customer care to know how to operate.

I have a Rest and Relieve Therapeutic King Heated Mattress Pad that I have lost the remote control for. where can I purchase a replacement remote?

You should try to contact the supplier of your mattress cover. If they have a website, you can check their website to check if they provide the separate remote for that particular mattress. Even if they don\'t, you can contact them asking the solution.

I need instructions on operating a remote to Sunbeam,Cal-King, electric mattress pad.

Which model Sunbeam mattress pad do you have? Sunbeam has some of their manuals here: http://www.sunbeam.com/manuals.aspx . The electric bedding share a manual. The direct link is http://www.sunbeam.com/BeddingManuals/SunbeamBedding/Universal.pdf .Make sure that you are using the master control for your side of the bed (that's the one closest to the plug for the wall outlet).

You may need to turn on the second control and set it to 0 at night. If you still are having a problem with the heat being uneven, you might need a replacement mattress pad. I know we've replaced several electric blankets or mattress pads due to problems with the control/uneven heat.

I hope this helps.

Mattress pad 1/2 not heating. (K85KQP)

It is sure to be a problem with the controller.
If you can open the controller up, you can compare the good controller on the side that operates to find the problem with the bad side.
If you have a multimeter, you can surely fix the problem.
Check for output where the wire comes out of the controller if you can get inside of the controller.
It may be that the cord is bad.
That is the most abused part, because it is continually being moved and bent.
