I have had my panasonic plasma for about 4 years with nothing but great results with the occasional firmware upgrade. A couple days ago my son turned on the tv and asked me to come look. What i found was the power indicator blinking a sequence of 6 flashes but no pic. I contacted panasonic and after checking the plug they told me to call for service. I don't have problem calling for service, but it is pretty pathetic that no one can tell me what the flashing sequence of 6 means... instead i was told it was so that the servicer would know what parts to bring... Help.
Hello, 7 blinks means you have a fualty ss board its bad or needs service
SS Board (SS Data Energy recovery and data driver)
thats the fualt for 7 blinks
6 blinks this is the fualt
SC board (SC Energy recovery and SC floating voltage)
hello, the blinking sequence determines the fualt.the repair would be specific to the blink sos from the tv. the tech will have to use this same manual so it is the first thing they will exchange or repair. to remove the sc panel they have to remove the back panel. there is a green led on the sc board it is supposed to be light when the tv is on and they will do voltage test and follow the circut to trace the trouble.
when it is assembled again they have to test it. so it would be the service charge for repair the part or parts hopefully just the sc board.
so the answer is no. it dosent mean your power board is bad.
4 blinks then it would be the power board.
good luck

Thank you for the info. Another question... the 6 blinks being the faulty SC board. Does that automatically translate to "a faulty power supply"? I am afraid that I will end up paying for repairs that are not needed.
