My JVC car CD player won't turn on. it will accept CD's and eject them and will display the time when the display button is pressed. but it won't turn on or do any other function. it used to work just fine but suddenly stopped. i know it's not in the CD player itself b/c i bought a new one and it does the same thing when plugged in. could it be in a wire? is there a way to fix it?
Make sure the red wire is still connected or make sure the red wire hasn't been severed. Also, check the fuses located in the engine compartment. The red wire connects accessory terminal in the fuse block. Also check the fuses in the cabin. This fuse box is typically located on the driver's side, at knee level, next to the door panel, and underneath the dashboard. As a last resort, the unit can be taken to an authorized or factory service center.
I just had the same problem when fitting my JVC car CD player to an Astra but then I checked the relevant fuses in the car (it will say in your manual which one(s) are for the radio) and lo and behold the radio one had blown. I replaced it & now radio/cd player works fine.

I have just overcome a similar issue with my JVC car radio head unit, it is receiving power in so much as it lights up when you push the eject or display button but wont do anything else, the wiring into the block was done according to the colour reference on the sticker on the head unit itself, I tested all the wires coming from the vehicle side and checked all the fuses I also checked the fuse on the radio all was in order and then I removed the unit and connected it directly to a 12V battery to see what the issue was and had the same result ruling out any issues on the car side, But then realized the issue was that the sticker on the unit indicating the function of each wire was wrong, on my unit it read as follows, Red - remoteBlack - earthYellow - 12V primaryOrange & White - 12V Dash/Ignition
Blue - accessory(i think?)
there was another colour brown I think but it had no function relevant to my setup, I am not discussing the speakers here so those colours are not mentioned. I then connected direct power feed from the battery to the Yellow and RED and hey presto the radio was fully functional, If I followed the wiring diagram strictly then there would be no requirement to connect power to the RED wire as this is supposedly for the "remote" feed but it appears that this is where the issue is.
I then put it back in the car and tried to connect the ignition feed to the RED and the primary to the YELLOW in the vehicle and this worked but only when I switched the ignition on, I was hoping this setup would provide power when in the off position but it appears not to have done so, I have not done any further tinkering as I was fed up at this stage and only too happy to have gotten it to work, I assume that you can get the radio to switch on when the car is off by linking both the yellow and red to the main 12V feed but I have not tried it yet.
Hi all, I was still playing music and when i turned up my volume, my radio died. I took the face off and pressed the reset button, butvit does not even light up. Please advise
I just installed a JVC head unit in my 04 Monte Carlo SS and display shows but will not power on

I have the same problem but didn't understand solution number 1?
Same thing...just tried installing the stereo, pain in the ass, still cant get it to fit in right, but i hooked up all the wire form the scoshe wiring kit to the stereo wiring kit( except for the blue remote) and it excepts cd's. and it will display time for about 3 or 5 seconds, then go off again...if this is any help i have a 02 cavalier... all wires hooked up properly
I have the exact same problem. B +12 on yellow wire and +12 on accessory (red wire) and a good ground to chassis. All wires are good.
jvc player getting power but wont stay on
I have a 94 Jeep Cherokee with the EXACT same problem.
i HAD the same problem solution 1 helped a lot. sol1 just wants you to check the fuses. when I did the one for the radio was blown.
Thanks
Same problem. Mine happened yesterday. Exact same issues as read here. I will check the fuses... I guess I just assumed it WASN'T the fuse since it was able to display the time, etc.
Thanks You! Been doing my nut in since i found out.... read this, checked the fuses and now im annoying the neighbors again! Cheers
