If the compressor is hot, then the temperature inside the unit may be compromised if there is a sealed system issue or a restriction in the unit. Call a professional to be safe.

it sound like your unit has a bad sensor on it or a leak. you should never have to add refrigerant to a unit unless theres a leak then it has to be repaired firdt the recharged.

SOURCE: Upright Frigidaire freezer with warning buzzer on constantly

If your'e positive the temp is ok then your freezer cold control may be bad. Slowly turn it toward off. If the compressor doesn't cut off before it gets to off, the control is probably bad. Test it here>http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/refrigerator/refrigerator.php

SOURCE: HELP! Frigidaire Fridge FRS26HF7BB0 losing coldness and buzzing

That noise is typical when the compresor is trying to start but it doesn't , it could be the condensing fan motor that doesn't work and the compresor goes off on overload ; a common problem with this compresors is the relay (mounted at the side of the compresor behind a black plastic cover) goes bad , this you can replace is about $20 , and if still the compresor won't start you will need to put another one and this is an expensive job.

Product thawed to cold in freezer...

If you had the door open for that long you will need to unplug and allow the ice buildup that happens when door is left open to thaw. After this you need only to plug the refrigerator back into the power source.Let me know what happens It is not going to work correctly until this is done. Sea Breeze

Upright self def. freezer not getting cold

Is your compressor running? Try this: place your hand on top the compressor, quickly-in case it's hot-it should be vibrating and cool/warm to the touch. If it's not running then the cheapest/fastest test is to try a 3in1 start kit from a local appliance shop. The 3 in 1 start should be around $14 to $20 to wire up. It's extremely simple to wire up, just ask the clerk at the appliance shop's parts counter and they will explain it. I hope this helps you out!!! :)

Not getting cold enough on the inside... the exterior too hot to touch.. why could this be?

Compressor relay could be fried. Feel the compressor. If it is too hot to touch then check your relay. The relays contacts could be welded together making bot windings stay powered up and overheating the compressor causing compressor shutdown on overload.

Frigidaire Freezer Upright model #: FFU11FC2CW0 Freezer is not freezing anything only keeping the food cold but not frozen. Can hear the fan running when the door is opened there is also a thin sheet...

Sounds like one or more of your defrost components are bad. Those components are defrost heater, defrost thermostat, and defrost timer or board depending on model.

Is it normal for the outsides to get very hot

No. If you feel the sides getting hot, it usually means that the ref. isn't cold enough inside. There us either an electric heater or a pass of the hot gas from the compressor around the edges of the doors as well as the mullion between them. If they feel hot, it's too warm inside.... Check the ice cream: It's the 1st to go.

Compressor very hot on Kenmore 7.5 c.f. upright freezer. It is too hot to touch and smells like burning paint, but stayed cold inside. Wondering if this is a bad compressor and about how much it costs to...

Compressors will normally run hot to the touch, but should not have a burning smell. If the compressor does need to be replaced you would be better off getting a new freezer. Compressor replacement with the labor can run into more than a new freezer.

Freezer is not running even the power receptacle is working

there are no fuses on a domestic freezer that i have ever seen. there are no fans and there are no traditional freezer coils. so you have only a few things that could be going on. if the temp is way up the thermostat should sense hot and close and send power to the compressor and it should run. you can do one of two things . find the thermostat inside the freezer usually . gently remove cover and check incoming terminal and outgoing terminal. if you show 120 volts its open and the stats bad. if you don't show 120 volts between terminal connections then its closed and the compressor is failing to start. if power is coming into the stat when checked to ground then go to compressor and see if there are starting components . they are a start capacitor and a START RELAY AND PERHAPS A OVER LOAD . SEE IF POWER IS ARRIVING AT THE COMPRESSOR. IF SO CHECK THE MICROFARED OUTPUT OF THEcapacitor . you need within 10 percent of the rated value. also you can gently remove the overload , a little plastic disc and look on the bottom side and see if its cracked or burned looking. an amp probe on the compressor will tell you what amps it pulls if it trys to fire up . 6 to 10 is good 30 to 50 is mechanically locked up and then the overload trips. if compressor is ice cold to touch then your not getting power to the compressor and its not trying to run. if its hot to the touch thens its trying but start caps weak , or its locked up. most domestic freezers are not worth the cost of a new compresssor anymore. good luck

Used frigidaire

look around the back of the freeze and at the bottom you will see a small black compressor .Put your hand on it and if it is running you will feel it vibrating. If it vibrating but running very hot them it means you have no gas in the system so the freezer won't freeze. If the compressor is cold and not running then it could be eaither the relay on the compressor or the board on the front either way you will need to get an engineer in
