Both items were purchased brand new and stopped working after the first month. Battery was charged for 24 hours prior to first use, then drained completely. This cycle was completed three times to ensure maximum battery charge and lifespan. The indicator light does not come on, and assuming the light was faulty, I attempted to charge the battery anyway with no luck. Nothing unusual occurred to either item, ie extreme temperature/environmental issues. Not only will the charger not charge the brand new battery it came with, but it will not charge other batteries of the same model. As stated, these items are fairly new, and I would like to know if there is an obvious solution I am not thinking of? I see that this product(battery charger) has been recalled, but have had no luck finding the details of the recall.

You will need he correct charger, the 24V will destry a very expensive battery.

It means there is too high or too low a voltage coming into the charger. Check your chord.
I had the exact same problem. After using the necessary security bit to crack mine open, I found that the large capacitor inside had come loose and needed to be re-soldered.
That fixed my charger.

As you know, solid red on your charger means that the battery is fully charged and the BLINKING red light means the battery is charging. Unless the light is blinking irradically everything is working the way it is supposed to. If the light is blinking irradically, the battery may just be too hot or too cold to charge ( like when you are driving many lags and your battery dies) and in this case simply wait 15 minutes to charge. If you get a fast blinking light still, the problem probably is with the battery.

The problem is your batteries are either over heating or worn out. You might also have a problem with the charger but you'll need Dewalt tech support to determine if it's good or bad.
The first thing to do is clean the contacts. Use a white plastic pencil eraser and clean all the contacts you can reach. If there are any contact you can reach with the eraser use a Q-tip that is just damp (not wet) with rubbing alcohol to clean them.
Discharge your batteries completely then put them in the freezer for 8-24 hours. Take the batteries out of the freezer and let the set 24-48 hours after that put them on the charger, they'll either charge or you need new batteries (more likely) or a charger.
