Hello everyone. I have a problem with my DAV DZ-100. I bought it 2
years ago, and i never watched divx movies on it. Now, when I want, I can't.
When I put CD or DVD with divx files into DAV it shows only a message "Data
error - divx". I also tray with firmware update which i downloaded from:
and i followed all the
instructions step by step, but when I put CD with file "hab_ec85.bin" into DAV
nothing is happened. It doesn't shows me a screen "Update file detected, press
play to start". What I can do now. Please help me... :-)

Your DVD player will accept only Divx disc ( AVI files ) So use an encoder to convert your files into AVI before you write them. The standard DVD is a format called MPEG 2 and don't confuse it with MPEG4. That is normal and it is because the codecs on your DAV-DZ100 came with the firmware, and the firmware will not be up to date so soon as the online divx codecs for Windows get updated.
All you can do is upgrade the DAV-DZ100 to the latest firmware version that will contain the most recent divx codecs for this model. Still this will not guarantee that you can view all Divx compression formats. It is the same on my DVD at home and there is nothing to do about that apart downloading latest firmware.
Dear Shah ji, I think Sony Service Center in UK can upgrade your DAV-DZ260 to play DivX files. I live in Pakistan and can upgrade firmware if required.
1.try to upload your videos to ULEAD movie maker and save it with any types of videos you like avi, divx, vcd, dvd etc.. or
2. if your disc is readable on your pc and its not playable then try to decode it by using xilisoft video converter. decode the files on your disc and after that burn it into a dvd or vcd. it should be playable now on your dvd player. hope that helps!
Hi, You can connect external HDD to dz270... BUT you can only play audio & photos through it. It's the limitation of dz270, you can't play video through USB. dz270 cant recognize NTFS filesytem, do a FAT32 partition of 200GB or so. I bought 500GB seagate free agent ... but i couldn't use it with my dz270 to play movies :-). I could have gone for dz290 :-(
