Aloha, bro.
I was born and raised in Hilo, graduated Hilo High school, back in the stone age.
Hey, your problem to solve this issue, is real easy. Don,t even touch the air conditioner, as you don,t want to risk and mistakes or damage.
Here is what you do, make sure power is off to the outlet. Best way is go to breaker panel and turn off all power, to test to make sure outlet is dead with plugging in something you know that works, radio, or lamp or screw gun, you know.
Then take off plate of out let, properly is a standard screw driver or Phillips. The outlet it self normally will have two screw , one top and one bottom. Undo those, pull out out let, then most outlets will have set screw to hold in wire or a push in type with a little like tap. You will see when you open it, but pretty easy to figure out as its simple. take pull out the wires from the out let. Normally will be a black and white( if you have two outlets, will be green wire normally for ground, But should have two white wire and two black wire. Get yourself two **** connectors. Take the two white wires , put together (twist) so you can **** connector on it. So same with both black wires. Put everything back( make sure **** connectors are good and tight, and no exposed wires outside of **** connectors. Put plate back on. Now what this does, is only makes that outlet dead, but allows power to continue on same circuit that other outlets might be sharing. More than likely they wont get inventive and run a extension cord to it from another outlet, especially if you tell them out let is burnt out from air conditioning problem, and don't want fire to happen. Oh, when your all done with outlet, make sure you turn main power on. I hope this helps you, Mahalo bro. Mike
