Push the little lever sticking out of the dispenser.
Maybe you have some calcium or hardened soap that is holding the lid closed. some Lemi-Shine powder dissolved in hot water and use an old toothbrush to clean off the soap/hard-water deposits.
The soap dispenser drawer is supposed to open during the cycle. Try
first to understand if the drawer is opening or not during cycle.
If the drawer is not opening, then check if the opening mechanism is
stuck, if it is blocked by dirt and soap, if it is broken, or if
something, for examble a basket too close to dispenser drawer is
preventing the drawer from opening.
Some dishwasher works only with powder, in that case indications are given on the owners manual.
If the drawer opens and the table, or powder is still staying stuck in
the drawer, then that means that the spray does not have enough power
to solve the tablet.
In that case check spray arms and impeller pump. Also check water temperature.
If the problem is also happening with powder, then it is probably a drawer not opening on cycle.
Hi White film deposits are observed if water is hard or when you are using more detergent than needed, try filling detergent cup half way. Try using white vinegar after the wash cycle is complete, run a complete cycle. Also turn down the heat on the hot water fed to the dishwasher. Try using water softener for better results. You can also add vinegar in the final rinse cycle. Make sure that your soap dispenser drawer is opening and closing fine. Hope this helps... Please post back if more information is required. Daniel

I opened up the top of the washer by unscrewing the screw in the back. then I pressed down hard on the white plastic cover of the soap dispenser that you will see on the front left hand side of the machine. I also moved it slightly to the right by pushing on the side of the same unit.
The soap dispenser then opened up fine. I cleaned out the soap dispenser from any crud that developed in it. Now it opens and closes nicely.
Did you know there is a class action lawsuit against LG for mold that develops inside of this model washer? I joined in the lawsuit. There should be no mold accumulating in any washer.
Great advice. I used a portion of you plan. Pulled off the top, but since the softener cup is on the right, I only uncliped the 3 clips on that side of the assembly. With those loose, I could pry gently up on the back portion of the assembly lid, and the drawer pulled out.
I also see no need for the cover, other than a measuring device. So removed the screws at the front, pushed the assembly back into the washer, and unclipped the rest of the lid. Once the lid of the tray assembly was off, it was easy to remove the softener cover. The only challenging part was getting the re-closed assembly to go back into the cut-out in the face metal. I got caught a couple times, but getting my hand up under the assemble allowed be to push evenly up on both sides as I pushed it forward into place.
Now the door works fine again. Seems to be a significant design flaw by LG.
ok, either a spring, trigger prob, on the latch, or a electronic prob. ok so to see if the latch is ok (or not) look closely for soap residue and scum, that may be hindering the latch or spring under. use metho, and warm water to clean this part.
secondly go down to a white goods repair place and take your electrical component, button, lights its all one unit, simple unscrew it, i do think you will need a set of torque screws for that tho... anyhow ask the guy to get you a new or second hand one and install it. the timer will run, and the clip will release.
good luck!
I got my fixed last night. It was the "lid" for the softener despenser that was making the drawer stick. To remove it you need to take the top off of the washer. There is are two plastic "holders" on the back of the machine that hold the top onto the machine. Each of these "holders" have two screws, remove them, then remove the holder. You can then, with some effort, slide the top of the washer towards the back the then lift it off. You will then be able to see plastic tub that contains the drawer for the despensers. You can't remove this tub, but on the side facing the inside of the washer are a couple of tabs holding the top of the plastic down. You can gently release these tabs and pull up on the top slightly. This gave me enough "play" to then open the drawer. The problem, I believe, is that over time, that tub moves and makes it impossible for the drawer to open. With trial and error, I found that with removing the "lid" for the softener despenser, and completely closing the lid of the plastic tub, that that solved the problem.
drawer will only slide out about 1.5 "
cannot open the drawer at all
the finish cover came off but the drawer will only come out about a 1/2".
