SOURCE: my nikon s8100 won't turn

It means it has a bad battery since it recognizes power using a different power source. Replace the battery and it should work fine.

SOURCE: Does the Nikon S8100 seem to have more lens error

Not really. It's extremely common on all similar designs from all manufacturers which have retracting/zooming lenses. The trick is to try and prevent the lens from ever being obstructed and to keep the camera in a camera case whenever it's not in use. Also avoid sand/beaches or similar areas as the camera isn't designed to cope with dirt which can get inside due to wind or being dropped.

None are robust, if they fail under warranty they get fixed or replaced. Outside of that you either fix it yourself or bin it and buy another as professional repairs usually cost more than buying another model.

Nikon Coolpix S8100 battery won't charge

I have had mine for over 3 years and this just started happening. I bought a new battery and it seemed to fix the problem for about a week but is doing it again. It seems like it won't fully charge now like it formerly did!

Nikon s8100 not recognised by usb

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Nikon Transfer and Picasa.

Nikon coolpix s8100 lens error lens won't retract

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...
Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them.

Nikon coolpix s8100 will not turn on. i have only used the camera a few times, and it was recently charged. is there a manual reset button? or do i need to send the camera back to nikon?

If it won't turn on, you're not going to be able to reset it.

Other than sending it back, the only suggestion I can make is do you have or can you borrow a spare battery. If so, try that. It could just be a failed battery.

It means it has a bad battery since it recognizes power using a different power source. Replace the battery and it should work fine.
