I started a wash cycle, signal didn't go off. Went to check why? the washer had 2 minutes left on it , but the softener was still in the tray and the clothes were wet. I tried to start a new cycle and the water will will come in for a few seconds and then shuts off. That is all that the washer will do. The lights are all on, the tray is closed, and the door is closed.
We checked the hoses and there were no kinks.
Try unplugging the washer for 5 min's and see if it resets, if not call for service.
Do you still have your owner's manual that came with the Kenmore washer? Look under troubleshooting your Kenmore washer.

open the dispenser all the way,place your finger towards the back left of dispenser.you should see a tab,depress the tab and pull entire dispenser cup out.the bleach and fab soft part of the disp has a removable tray.clean all pieces out including the long shafts on the insert.you will more than likely find a build up of softener,this breaks the siphon and does not allow the water to drain out.good luck

washer may not be spining at all start in rinse cycle allow washer to wash and advance through cycle on it's own do not advance manually..after agitation listen for short pause after pause pump out should begin after pump out should be another short pause then spin should start..if spin does not start after 2nd pause suspect transmission if lid is raised spin may start but if it doesn't start during normal operation bad gearcase one other ck possible look underneath for oil it may be getting on clutch causing clutch to slip and not allow to spin full speed

hi, i think you will find the bearing on the drum is about to fail, you need to replace it, hope this helps

DOES IT DO THIS ON EVERY WASH OR SOMETIMES? IF SOMETIMES, CHECK LID SWITCH( THERE'S A LITTLE HOLE WHEN YOU OPEN THE LID, ON THE LID SHOULD HAVE A LITTLE PLASTIC PIECE THAT GOES IN THAT HOLE. THE SWITCH IS UNDER, INSIDE THAT HOLE. YOU CAN GET A PEN OR KEY TO SEE IF IT'S BROKEN.)
