if you are using google chrome ( possibly for google also) there is a google program that can be down loaded free from google that removes a bug in the google system and allows it to work properly

Here's how you can get rid of ASK toolbar and set Google as you homepage:

1. First of all check the ip address on your computer.
Click Start--Programs--Accessories--Command prompt.
type ipconfig and then press Enter.
look for autoconfig ip v4 address and default gateway.

Hi, With all the missing programs, files, links and others, might it not be better to start anew? Since QB installer is coming, most if not all drivers are downloadable, perhaps your best bet is to delete the old, repartition, re-format and install a new/fresh/clean Windows. If there are files/data that you would want to keep/maintain, you can always burn then into a DVD prior to the new install and load them back in when the re-install has completed. Alternately, a 2Gb flashdisk can hold a lot of data. In some similar instances, I normally also copy the inf, System32 of the old setup just in case will have problem with drivers. Another is before deleting/reformatting, go to your Device Manager and make a list of all your devices. Thereafter, download the needed drivers appropriate for your OS and burn them into a CD (or flashdrive just like your important data. Foremost in your list is networking card and modem driver. It may also be to your advantage to log down your Networking details such as your IP address. This may sound more work but in the long run less frustration and possibility of your problem recurring.
