How do you replace the batteries on an IBM Wheelwriter 3

My firm just purchased a refurbished IBM Wheelwriter 3 and when I turn it on the line space lights continually blink. It says to replace the batteries with 3 Size AA alkaline batteries. How do you replace them and where are they?

If this a WW3 there are no batteries, ckeck the keyboard connectors, if they seem OK take it back

Look inside the case (lift the top cover) down in front of the keyboard on the bottom of the machine on the right sid is a black container slide it to the side and you can replace the battery

try turning it on remove the batteries check the contacts for clean replace the batteries in the correct direction.

I believe on the R. side of the keyboard there is a key that says RELOC and in green LINE SPACE press the code key and it will move thespaces To 1, 1.5. 2.and 3,

If yhou aren't using the memory you can remove the batteries and it will set everything to default settings on power up.

It may be the keyboard is bad or not fully plugged in also try reinstalling the printwheel.

How do you set up (or turn off) double spacing on an IBM Wheelwriter typewriter?
The older models have a key on the R. side that says line space, press that and the lights will change to indicate spacing.
On the later ones you must use the code key with with the line space key in green on the R. side.

Many possibilities; Check to be sure the printwheel is properly installed, then try turning it on while moving the flat keyboard connectors around if it works see my tip under WW1000.
