I have a Westinghouse SK-32H240S that has no backlight at all. There isn't even a flash of light when powered on. Using a flashlight though, I can see the image displayed on the screen. I opened the back, found a bad transformer, ordered one and replaced it, but I still have the same problem. There appears to be no current going to the transformers for the backlights. Is there something on this board or the T-con board that could have been blown by the bad transformer on the LIPS board. I have checked all the transformers and they are fine. They are not receiving voltage but the bl on connection shows 5V. Where is their source for voltage? I understand the voltage from the backlights comes from the power supply. I need more specifics on what to look for. Should I have 24 volts coming from an IC or a transistor? Please help.

This problem is caused from a problem with the main board. The main board will need to be replaced. It runs from $100.00 to $150.00.

Hello, it seems like your LIPS board has gone out. This board has two parts to it, one is the power side which is still working (you still have power and sound), and the second part is the inverter side. This side of the board is responsible for powering on and off the backlight. When this goes out your unit is still functional with the exception that you cannot see the screen. The repair is easy if you are at least a bit technical. You will need to contact Westinghouse at 1800-701-0680 to order the LIPS board, once you have that you will need to open the unit, the LIPS board is immediately visible, you remove the part and replace it with the new one and your TV is now functional. You can send me a quick email at [email protected] if you need any sort of assistance. Please rate my help on this site.

Obviously, there is something wrong with something on the board. The board itself is fin, but voltage is not making it to the backlight bulbs. How do I check the transformers?
Found R300 to be bad. It is such a low resistance, it is basically a fusible resistor. Replaced it and it popped the new one as soon as power was applied. Started checking transistors and found I have 2 that are shorted.
what board do you check for this
