Look for any jammed buttons on the remote or on control panel. Try removing the batteries from the remote and see.

Solution that worked for me:

Beware: Although the process should be safe, it technically voids your warranty.

Enter the service menu:
1 - turn of tv with remote
2 - press and release in the following order on the remote: Info, Menu, Mute. Make sure remote is pointing at the tv
3 - turn on the tv from the remote
4 - you will see the service menu. using the down arrow on the remote select the Reset option. Using the right arrow button at this point will do a hard reset.
5 - Wait a few seconds, turn TV on
6 - you will have to rescan analogue and digital channel but it should be working now.

SOURCE: NO SOUND ON TV. CABLE REMOTE AND TV REMOTES HAVE

You have just performed the best way to troubleshoot this kind of problem. Check all cables on the back of the tv and your sources and look for any loose or disconnected cables. Next, Hook your DVD palyer to the SAME input that you are using for the cable box. Now if you have good pix and sound then you have a bad cable box. If not then you have a bad Main bd in the tv.

I don't know where I control the volume on a TCL Roku TV Model 55R512 Remote. The TV is in mute mode and I can't unmute it.

On some TCL Roku TV remotes, pressing Volume Up un-mutes the TV. Pressing Volume Down enough times will mute the TV. (A few models have a physical Mute button on the side of the TV.) If the TV speakers have been disabled, you'll need to go through the Settings or Options menu instead. (If the unit was used with a sound system, that would be common.)

For more specific information, please add a comment with the TV model. Usually the remote instructions are in the TV documentation. I can't find any TCL TV documentation that lists the 55R512 remote.

I hope this helps.

Reduce Vol to minimum and hold Vol Down on set and Vol Down on remote.

NEED SONY CODES FOR PHILLIPS REMOTE

Universal Remote Control Simple Setup

* Point it at a TV set and press the Mute/Power button. (Mute button if TV is already on, or Power button if the TV hasnt already been turned on)

* Keep pointing it at the TV until the TV turns on or muted, most TVs respond in about 5 seconds, the most is up to 20 seconds. (Other universal television remote you find in stores take minutes to program and enter long confusing codes)

* Once the TV is muted or turns on, simply let go of button and you have total control. You can use the remote as if you had the original remote, and responds instantly. ENJOY YOUR FREEDOM of choices with our remote!
Most remote controls require minutes of programming a universal remote code into each television while you read the confusing instruction manual.

Toshiba Regza 32C3000A tv sound keeps droping out, the mute button when pressed on and then off brings it back on. seems as if the tv is auto muting itself?

Could be a contact piece of the MUTE button from your remote that is causing it.
Go out and Big Lots or Radio Shack to get a cheap universal remote control(big lots would be between $5-$10) Pick up the code for it,and when the tv happens again, your the OLD remote MUTE button to turn it back on and then put away this remote control and use the new universal remote control.
However,if the problem is coming from the manual MUTE button on the TV,you need a repair tech, to fix it!
