When I turn the power on the screen is black. I can still take pictures but I cannot see what I am taking a picture of. Sometimes the pictures have black horizontal lines going through them. I can still view previous pictures that I have taken but other than that the screen stays black.

Hi,
Because I'm a moron, I didn't know that some companies sell broken digital cameras on eBay. As a result, I bought a broken DSC-W80 that shipped with the lens extended and the turn on/turn off problem. I noticed that the top part of the lens was crooked. I was able to firmly pull the lower end up so that it was level. It snapped back into place and now works wonderfully. I guess it was worth the $113 + shipping.
