If your TV has a 46 inch screen then the model must be LNS4692D not 4092D. I recently had the exact same problem with my LNS4692D after 30 months of use. It was indeed the A/S T CON board that caused the problem. I ordered a board from partstore.com and replaced it myself. The TV is now working as it should. Saved $500 to $600 by doing the work. I documented the repairs, complete with pictures in a MS Word document but I dont think I can post it here. Replacing the board was not too difficult but it should not be attempted by someone with no experience at all in these matters.

I have the samsung LN-S4692, purchaced Sept 2006.
On Dec 16, 2008 it lost the picture while I was watching.
The picture sort of wiped away, quikly, beging from the right of the screen to the left.
The screen is now dark.
When paging through the imputs with the source button on lower right of the TV you can see a change in the bank screen.
The imput icon does not appear on screen using the remote.
The sound is still working.
It sounds like the problem discribed to be the T-Con board
costing a couple of hundered dollars from samsung or other suppliers.
