Dryer will not start

If you manually turn on timer can you hear the faint ticking? #1Verify breaker is not tripped. #2 Unplug dryer. Remove back cover. On many makes there are 2 blue wires that connect to a white and black "fuse" towards the bottom of the unit. Unplug both wires and electical tape them together. plug in dryer and start the cycle. If it works, unplug and go buy the fuse. Clean lint out of air system from dryer to lint screen through exhaust.

Kenmore dryer 70 series 66722690 - has power but won't start (no humming noise, no ticking noise from timer, and no light when you open door) nothing!

I would check the breaker before you go any further. Here are some things to remember when you do this. 1) The breaker for the dryer is generally located outside on the side of the house somewhere near the electric meter. Most 220vac breakers are, which include any electric range, cooktop, wall oven, etc. 2) When your checking the breaker, actually physically touch it. Sometimes breakers can trip a but the spring that actually pulls the breaker to off position is weak and by visual inspection would appear on. Just simply reach in and tap the bar lightly in the off direction. If it pops over to the off position, turn it back on then go check your dryer. If the breaker passes inspection, I would unplug the machine because there migfht be a short at the terminal block where the plug connects to the dryer. After you've unplugged it, remove the back and check to see if everything is ok. I have a strong feeling that you won't need to get to this point cause I'm betting on breaker.

Dryer Won't Start

Make sure it has power. Then:Check the door switch. A little lever sticking down through top right of door opening. If it is not there you will need new door switch(sometimes the little lever breaks off). If it is there and does not click when you press it in you need a new door switch. if it clicks when you close the door then you have a bad thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is found by taking the back of the dryer off. The fuse is an oblong white plastic piece with 2 wires attached.

Dryer won't start

Does the unit have power? Have you physically turned the breakers off and then back on? Have you checked that the dryer cord is good? Have you checked that the outlet has not shorted out? If you have check all these things and it still won't start then it can either be a bad door switch or the on/off switch is bad.

I have a very old roper dryer (11 yrs), it quit mid cycle. It ticks when I set the timer but nothing happens. The on button quit along time ago but when you shut the door it would start. Today nothing...

You've got an open circuit somewhere in the loop betwixt the start button, the "safety" button actuated by the door, and the motor/heat coils. Trace out those circuits and you'll have that thing running in no time.

Maytag performa dryer quit working

Check your breaker first and then the wiring. Check power coming from the timer next. With a load and resistance that you had, you could have tripped one of the breakers.Since you have bypassed the thermal fuse, it probably is the timer switch.
