Philips rear projection TV model 60P8342.

It`s not Eprompt, it`s the Eprom, Erasable Read Only Memory. The Eprom holds all the information in it about your set like has it got Ni-cam Sound, A wide-screen, A projection set plus a lot of other information like Convergence settings, RGB setup, PAL, NTSC settings plus customer settings like Colour, brightness etc. There are other settings besides these which are in binary bit code which can control the power supply, Standby timing etc etc. The Eprom may only be an eight or a sixteen pin device but it a crucial part of the set where information is perminantly being read from the Eprom to make sure the three guns are set correctly and the convergence errors are being kept in check. This is a very time consuming job even for a qualified technician, I know, I used to do these and Philips sets are notorious for Eprom and uPC failures. The Eprom comes formatted from the suppliers, so there`s absolutley no information in it at all meaning that you have to start from zero. If you can get the set to come on long enough and you can get the set into service mode, you may be lucky where you can write down the 200-300 or so settings, If not, WHAT A JOB. Believe me, you can change the Eprom in 2 minutes, but it could take 1 or 2 days to set it all up again and even then it`s very difficult to get it perfect. Ian

My Sanyo DS24425 24 inch screen moves slightly to the left and stays there. its very frustrating because i play games on that tellie and cant see part. it's not parted halfway though. its like one a couple...

The problem can be corrected by only qualified technician. There is what is called the service man's menu which can only be accessed by a partciular code in service manual for that particular TV. Your local service technician should be able to locate the the manual and then perform what is caller a horizontal centering adjustment. In today's tv's there are no alalog controls for easy adjustment, it all done with eprom ic which allows the manufacturer to use the same chasis for many different picture tube sizes. If you could get manual. and have basic computer skills , you could probably do it yourself. You might try ordering the maual from Tritrinics/Cititrinix 1-800-638-3328. Scrivitron
