Every one of those I have repaired, I had to replace the controller ic on both the slave and master. Monitor the 5 volts on the controller and the output, that's a dead give away. Don't bother with the cf lamps, thats not your problem.
Looks like the TV has developed dry solder/dry/shorting capacitors. To make sure, first of all try the same input device on some other TV. If it works there, you can be sure that your TV is having problems. Then I would advise you to stop using it to stop aggravating the defects. It is better to show it to a qualified service technician.
I just bought a television on Craigslist with this exact problem for a very good price. There are two boards inside on the left and right sides of the screen called the Master and Slave boards. KUBNKM133LB is the exact number on the board in my hand. I have done some research as far as capacitor failure and Master/Slave failures. It appears as though all 4 capacitors (both boards together) have either gone bad or started to go bad. 3 of the 4 are leaking. This is not good. It means they have been overworked and overused and need to be replaced. When you replace them (if you know anything about soldering, it's a simple task), be very careful not to damage any of the board with the iron as you will completely ruin it and tracking down new Master/Slave boards is next to impossible. I simply called a local television repair shop and asked for 4 35V 680uF 105C capacitors. He said he has them in stock and I am off to pick them up early tomorrow. Simply replacing said capacitors should fix the problem (it would seem that underpowering is a serious problem and is essentially what is causing the screen not to be completely bright all the way across. I'll update tomorrow if this fixes the problem.
