I have an intermittent problem with my Coolpix S5, sometimes the picture becomes completely discolored; whole picture is greenish & sometime discolored & pixelated. When taking a shot, especially in low light condition it sems like the processor is trying to balance or componsates for the lighting level but then the picture would have the fault as described. I tried adjusting the whaite balance, aperture compensation, different shooting modes to no effect. 1st I thought this was a CCD problem but it's intermittent, so it can't be. Some of my friends think it may be the processor problem or the VRAM?. Has anyone experienced this problem or can help with a fix other than returning to Nikon for a very expensive repair. Thanks
I have seen a similar problem with other manufacturer's cameras. A connectore between the CCD and main board comes loose and gives weird picture effects. With other cameras the lens fails and gives a multi coloured solarization. Hopefully, your camera is still under warranty because I would suggest you take it to Nikon for service.
