Erecovery management for acer aspire one without disk drive wont run

Erecovery management for acer aspire one zg5 keeps telling me it failed formatting and something about a "hidden partition". This began by trying to turn on the computer and goes straight to erecovery. I tried the alt+f10. still same thing and will not turn off unless i manually turn off.

Ask acer for this problem, when you buy a laptop you need to make recovery discs, you prolly did not do that. So now it asks for recovery files on the dvd disc.
If it has no dvd drive you should have made them on a usb drive.
If acer cant help you with that, reinstall windows thats the only option.
Partitions hidden can be removed but then there is no way to restore the pc to factorydefaults anymore.

When you decide to reinstall windows, you will see 3 partitions, remove them all, then make 1 partition click next and it will make a little partition for system files. the rest is used for windows, untill u partition the rest, like a d: e: drive.

SOURCE: d2d recovery

Hi there
You want to restore your computer to its original settings without
recovery CDs?
This recovery process helps you restore the C: drive with the original software content that is installed when you purchase your notebook. Follow the steps below to rebuild your C: drive. (Your C: drive will be reformatted and all data will be erased.) It is important to back up all data files before using this option.
Before performing a restore operation, please check the BIOS settings.
1 To activate the BIOS utility, press <F2> during boot up.
2 Check to see if Acer disk-to-disk recovery is enabled or not.
3 Make sure the D2D Recovery setting in Main is Enabled.
4 Exit the BIOS utility and save changes. The system will reboot.
To start the recovery process:
1 Restart the system.
2 While the Acer logo is showing, press <Alt> + <F10> at the same time to
enter the recovery process.
3 Refer to the onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.

Good luck and Merry Christams

SOURCE: Hello i have an Acer Aspire One model zg5 netbook

You're going to need to boot it from the Windows XP installation disk, which means if you don't have a CD drive you'll need to get an external CD-ROM drive. This will fix the problem.

Factory reset for Aspire one without disk and alt + F10 doesnt work

The disk-to-disk recovery may be disabled preventing the Alt + F10 key sequence running eRecovery. To enable disk-to-disk recovery, you must do the following... (do not have an external monitor attached)
1. activate the BIOS utility by pressing F2 during Power On System Test (while Acer logo displayed)
2. select Main from the categories listed at the top of the screen
3. find D2D Recovery at the bottom of the screen and use F5 and F6 keys to set this value to Enabled
4. exit the BIOS utility and save changes.
The system will reboot.
5. while the Acer logo is showing, press the Alt key and the F10 key at the same time repeatedly
6. wait as Acer eRecovery starts up then follow onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.

Alternatively to the above, if Windows can be accessed, the recovery can be done by launching Acer eRecovery Management by running the program from the Acer Empowering Technology program group in the Start menu.

Alt f10 not working on my acer just keeps saying failed 0xf000006

Does your "My Computer" show a drive D:. According to Acer this is where all user backups are saved. Are you able to run the "eRecovery Management Tool" at all? If not and you don't have any OS disk, it looks like you'll have two choices: acquire an OS disk, or, acquire the "eRecovery CD's". Here's a link for the CD's, if you decide this:

https://secure.tx.acer.com/RCDB/Main.aspx?brand=acer

By rights, you should have a "Key Code" sticker on your PC tower for an OS. Do you know anyone that may have an OS disk you could borrow?
