HELP! Olevia lt37hvs screen went blank. No Sound, panel buttons wont work. Backlight is only on on half of screen.

While watching tv, I was programming the remote when suddenly the screen made a noise, went green for a couple seconds, and then turned dark. This had happened in the past. The screen would suddenly go dark, but then a quick unplug and replug and it would come back on. This time, no luck. When I turn the power on using either the remote or the front panel button. The screen flickers briefly and then goes dark.. but not completely dark....only dark on the left half of the screen while the right half has a glow still. 1) I took the back off and inspected the power supply. There are no obvious signs of blown anything. All caps appear good, etc. 2) I took the covers off an inspected the main logic board. Same thing..no obvious signs of anything blown. 3) I noticed that the back light is only on on the right side of the screen. I traced back to where they get their power and out of curiosity switched the two sides. I put the right side plug into the left power source, and vice versa. Still the same. The right side came on, but not the left. a) This leads me to believe the power source is ok correct? Since the backlight came on for the right side in either case? 4) Also, once the tv is "powered" on, with half the screen backlit, none of the panel buttons will work. I see nothing when I hit menu, etc. Pushing the Power button again does nothing...no power off, etc SO...questions.. A) Does this mean the inverter board is out? it appears that the two inverter boards are connected with a ribbon cable from something? But if the inverter board was just out on one side, wouldnt you still see some kind of picture on the left side? shouldnt I be able to see some reaction from the panel buttons? Would bad caps or something in the power supply have caused this? B) or..could this whole thing be the main logic board? Im really confused by the lack of evidence, half backlit, power works for the right side in both plugs, panel buttons dont work etc... Thanks in advance for any help...

If you had audio i wold say its most likely the Tconn or its upper two connections to the Panel itself. But since you dont have any sound either I would assume its either the LVDS cable from the main board to the Tconn or the Main board itself as audio and video are produced on the main board, You can get replacement boards from www.tvrepairworld.com

Thank you for the reply....does it make any sense that only half of the screen is backlit? Does the main board control the signal to backlight also?

SOURCE: Olevia 42" LT42HVi has sound but picture had gone blank.

You do have sound, but no picture.
I believe the power supply and main board is ok, because you can hear the audio.

Most of the majority of these problems that have no picture is the back light inverter. That's what supplies power to the screen. I would look into that as the source of the problem.

Who services olevia tv

The common parts that go out n the TV is the power supply module and the backlights inverter board, right now the 24vdc power supply section may not be working or the backlight board is bad.
See and learn more here: You can look at the price of the parts at shopjimmy.com

37 inch olevia hdtv screen keeps going blank evry ten minutes or so. to get it back must shutdown and restart

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

Replacement screens are hard to come by for this model as the copany went out of business and no parts are made. The best way and price on a replacement screen is to watch e-bay and craigs list and buy a whole tv that wont power on and swap LCDs. Also www.RNS-Systems.com has uses LCD screens

Sound but no vision, black screen

It's either the backlight lamp or backlight inverter is busted due to a power failure or fluctuation. Here's how to determine which is which:
  1. Grab a flashlight.
  2. Turn on the TV.
  3. Shine the flashlight onto the screen.
  4. If you cannot see any display even a faint one, the backlight inverter is dead, else the backlight lamps are busted.
  5. Replace which ever is the culprit.

My Olevia LT37HVS 37' was working fine all day and turned to black screen.

It is either the fluorescent backlight source for the LCD panel or its associated power supply failing.

TV can't be turned on

I would check the capacitors on the power inverter most problems with LCDs can be attributed to that or the backlight
