Question about Frigidaire FRS3R5EMB Side by Side Refrigerator
A few days ago, our Frigidaire PureSource model # FRS6LR5EM2 wouldn't dispense water & there was ice/frost on the back wall of the freezer. The water line behind the crisper was frozen, so I thawed it with a hair dryer. The water dispenser has worked ever since. I unplugged the refrigerator to let the freezer defrost, set the dials to factory setting for 24 hours, then set freezer to 4, and fridge to 5. Everything seemed to work ok, but after 3 days, it is not making ice, only the drawers in the fridge are cold, top is warm, and there is ice/frost on freezer wall again. Also, the lower portion of the freezer seems to be partially working, but the top shelf does not freeze. However, the water dispenser works fine & the water is cold. Any help you can offer would be appreciated. Thank you!
Contact a professional. Sounds like either your damper door is not operating correctly and not letting enough cool air from the freezer enter, or there is an air leak that is making ice form .

sometimes when the cooler weather comes in you may need to chnge temp setings to a warmer setting to prevent some items from freezing ie: leafy vegetables, water bottles, eggs, etc etc.
now if you are having total freeze up of everything in the ref section then you could have bad temp control or damper assy.

SOURCE: refrigerator side freezing
kjn, I think what happened here is that the automatic damper assy. is stuck in the open position. This is why everything froze in the refer area. This includes the water filter and cartridge. I would unscrew the filter cover and see if it's frozen in there. If you find the filter frozen, take a hair dryer and go over it lightly until it will unscrew. After that you will have to check to see if the damper is stuck. You should be able to hear it open and close by turning the control on and off. Or get a mirror and hold it at an angle in back to see the gates. Part number for the damper motor is 240440701. Not that hard of a job...Catriver.

The guide that funnels the water into the ice maker needs to be replaced. The cause of your problem is that water is leaking into the back, freezing there, and blocking the air flow. Mine sounded like an idling semi truck with engine problems.

check the water line fron filter that continues on to water dispfrom icemaker, also a bad water disp solenoid or no pwr to water valve disp solenoid could be a problem, when you try to disp water can you hear a click from the solenoid operating to let water out?

Tips for a great answer:
Thank you for your post, friend!
I understand that you are seeing a brown liquid come from under your dispenser area. I would recommend you having a professional come out to your appliance to check and assure the water lines are connected properly and not developing any moisture problems to form from under your dispenser. I hope this is helpful. -Matt
