I just moved my washer from house to house, now that it is hooked up it doesn't work properly. the problem is when I choose hot/cold cycle, the water starts and it stops in about 1 minute. but If i leave at warm/cold cycle or other cycle it works just fine. although on those cycles I also think that it is working much faster than before. I am thinking maybe the hot water from the water heater is too far away from the washer. please help me figure this out

Is your washer have a auto temp control if so you may need a new sensor witch would be located on the water valve.

SOURCE: The cold water is not working
Most likely the solenoid on the cold water side has failed. The water inlet valve must be replaced as a unit. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. Here is a link that should help http://appliancehelponline.com/topwaterinletvideo.html

Hello, welcome to FixYa.
You specified this is a new or recent install, and as long as water is indeed entering the unit here`s what I find is most common when dealing with the symptom you`ve described ( as long as water isn't filling over the top...that indicates a different issue )
I'd suspect the drain hose is lying down on the floor or is pushed down into the stand-pipe too far.
If the drain hose is below the water level entering the washer it will siphon out immediately. The drain hose must be above the highest point the washer has to fill, ( refer to your manual, but it is typically recommended to be about "48 to "60 in height but not more than 90" or so )
**The standpipe drain requires a minimum diameter standpipe of 2" (5 cm). The minimum carry-away capacity can be no less than 17 gal. (64 L) per minute. A 2" (5 cm) diameter to 1" (2.5 cm) diameter standpipe adapter kit is available. " The top of the standpipe must be at least 39" (99 cm) high and no higher than 96" (244 cm) from the bottom of the washer.**
Also if it is in a stand pipe insure it isn't pushed in too far, just a few inches and then secure it without completely covering over the opening or that too will cause it to siphon.
Check your drain hose. Let me know if this was indeed the case and if so please rate the solution accordingly. If not we can move forward from there.
Thank's for coming to FixYa and good luck.

Macmarkus :)

This is
almost certainly the result of the fill sensor failing. intermittantly
Essentially, the sensor is a bellows device. A pipe is connected to the device and as water reaches the end of the pipe and advances up it, the air pressure in the pipe increases, inflating the bellows. As the bellows inflate, they press on and trip a microswitch inside the sensor and cut the power to the water inlet valve, stopping the water flowing into the machine when it reaches the correct, measured level according to the pressure in the pipe.
Take the top
off the machine, if you look down the side you will see a (typically clear
plastic) tube about the thickness of a pencil, connected to a circular device
about the circumference of a coffee cup and about an inch to two inches thick.
This is the
sensor. Problems with it may be:
It has come
unclipped from where it should be mounted. The device is VERY sensitive and if
it has slipped out of place, over or underfilling is common. (Reposition the
sensor, hopefully you can see where it came from!)
The pipe
that is connected to it has come off, so the air pressure that the sensor
measures is not increasing as the machine fills (push the pile back on and all
is well)
The machine
has been subject to some trauma (Such as a very uneven load that has made it
shake violently. The starting level of the water that is in the bottom of the
pipe is now wrong and the pressure sensor is being affected. (Remove the pipe
from the sensor, blow down the pile to get any water that should not be there out
and then replace the pipe).
