Sony CMT-GP5 subwoofer output very quiet

Hi, I've got a Sony CMT-GP5 which I've just bought an Accusound powered subwoofer for. Unfortunately the sub is producing very, very quiet sounds - Even with the Sony and Sub turned to full volume, the sound is very low. The sub/cables all work, as I've tested it on a surround sound system. It seems as thought the output from the sub jack just isn't giving enough umpf. Any help with this issue would be very much appreciated. Thanks for your time!

The sub has worked on two different systems now, I'm pretty convinced it has something to do witht the sub pre-out jack, but wouldn't have a clue how to remedy the situation.

It is very rare for the pre-output to be a problem, requires sony tech.

since this is a specialty repair with a schematic.

From the description the subwoofer is the problem, since the item is new return it to the place of purchase, this is a manufacture issue.

It sounds to me like you both are having a problem with a capacitor going bad. some capacitors act as a noise filter and it sounds like you both have a bad one. If you are any good with a volt-ohm meter that reads capacitors you should check them to make sure they are at their proper values which will be posted on the capacitor. then replace it. if you dont know how to use a v-o meter then take it to a shop and have them replace it

Secondly sounds like the power supply filter capacitor has gone bad. Write down the value off the label and purchase one at your local electronics parts place. It will only be two solder leads to unsolder and solder back. But first check the other place for that symptom, an open ground near the input jack going into the amplifier, or broken input wire/plug.

Below is the link to the Manual.

You need to connect the speaker output from your desktop to the PC IN jack which is Front Panel Bottom Left. Full details are on Page 2 of the above Manual "Using optional audio components"

Hello i have a s master digital amplifier model number SA-WSF200. Suddenly the right speaker a subwoofer stoped working. I tried plugging the right speaker into the left speaker output on the amp and it...

i dont know if amp has fuse for each channel, but they would be easy to see.. otherwise that baby has a blown component or two on a pc board, maybe an output power transistor of capacitor failed.
Last time i went to a shop it was like $100 plus parts for a similar repair.
I recomend sending Sony support an email and see what they say before you take it anywhere as well..

My sony cmt-nex3 has the standby light flashing, but when i press the on butto, it doesn't turn on

Check the back for speaker wire shorts, next! there may be a short in the audio output chip or surrounding parts in the stereo, this is more suited for a technician to sort out.

I have a sony 1000w zr1852. The power and ground cables touched at the amp. I fixed the connection but now the power save light is on. what could be wrong? thanks

Sounds like there's either some fuses blown, or a short circuit happened inside the amp. However usually they're pretty good about not shorting out. Check your connection at the battery, In-line Fuse, Cap, Distro, and Amp and make sure everything is connected fine. Check the Alternator in your car to make sure it's outputting the right voltages, and the battery to make sure it's between 12V - 14V. I've had some weird things happen over the years with my Car Audio, and it always ends up being wires or fuses.

This may help. If it's not the exact model you have it will at least get you started as subwoofers are pretty much teh same for connection and operation.

What voltage required to power a sony subwoofer

Hey,

I just got one of these units, the SONY SS-WG990.
The RCA cable is direct conection to the speaker.
It requires external AMP.
The other cable is just for the system switch and LED.
If you just have this unit, all you need is an AMP to
feed it.
