SOURCE: atwood rv water heater model G6A-8E heats water to

Normal causes for that would be by-pass valve not in proper position, or defective, allowing cold to mix with hot, or thermostat not touching up against tank properly, or defective. Do you know where that thermostat is?
Look where the black foam cover is, with white letters, below pressure relief valve. One is lettered ECO, other THERM. If you note where the wires go, so as not to mix them up , and pull them off, then peel back the foam cover, you'll see 2 little round discs, that are held against the tank by a small spring. They need to be checked that they are in there properly and are up against the aluminum tank.

SOURCE: I have a G6A-7E electronic ignite water heater.

Make sure propane is on and getting to your stove burners ok, first, then try switching it back on. If it fails to ignite, shut switch off and try a couple of times, if still no ignition, get back to me.

SOURCE: Have an G6A-8E Atwood water heater. It Starts fine...

If it has the little thermal cut-off in power wire to thermostat (has a little plastic jacket over it) try removing it, and connect female spade from power wire, directly to male spade on thermostat, and see what happens. Also, make sure electrode is positioned in flame good for flame sensing properly.

Need to add electric heating element and thermastate to g6a-6e gas water heater

I don't know how you can drill into aluminum tank and install element.
That seems a good way to ruin the heater.
Why not just buy small 'under counter' 1500 watt electric water heater at local box store and install in-line before the water reaches atwood gas heater.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-install-under-counter-water-heater.html
Otherwise I do not have a solution.
Don't blow yourself up by messing with gas appliance.

Need to replace G6A-6E Atwood waterheater, what replacement model can I use?

Why not the same model/size? Atwood 6 gal, works on propane with electronic ignition. Or, you can get the 6 gallon with electronic ignition, and electric element as well provided you are willing to run hydro to water heater as well, if not already there. Check any RV parts site for prices and availability. Some places are out of stock currently. I assume your current tank is leaking?

I have a g6a-6e water heater,it cycles and gets hot then shuts down, and thengoes to the shut down mode.I have replaced the thermo switches and unplugged the fusiable link, restarted and does the same t

Look at front of water heater with cover open. Black rectangular piece of foam under pressure relief valve area, has "therm" and "eco" marked in white letters. Each has 2 male spade connectors sticking out. That is your Thermostat and eco ( emergency cut off) . The ECO basically is a safeguard in case thermostat malfunctions. It is set to shut water heater down, a few degrees hotter than thermostat, just in case. Peel the foam back to expose the Thermostat & ECO, and remove circular retainer to remove either.

I have an Atwood Direct Ignition Model G6A-4E 6 Water Heater

I am a RV service tech and that is an old unit. Your control board is bad but with the age of that unit I would strongly suggest replacing the whole water heater, you can shove a pile of money at it and still have an old water heater when for 3 to 500 bucks you can have a new one with a 2 year warranty
