you can't there is a crum chip on the toner cartridge that would need to be replaced. refilling is a bad idea by the way. it ends up costing you alot more in repairs on down the line

I'm not sure what you mean by "reset" and whether you are speaking of ink jet or laser cartridges. From my experience all HP laser cartridges have a small chip (with a little circuitry) that counts down your pages and when it decides your cartridge is out of toner you cannot "reset" that chip, you can only replace it, so like when you refill the cartridge. Some of the HP laser printers let you override these toner level chips (my HP 1518ni does) but in many laser printers you are stuck when the chip counts down to '0' pages. Some printers will run if you remove the chip from the cartridge but from my experience most will not.
Ink jet cartridges are somewhat similar but I gave up on ink jet printers several years ago. I know for some brands (Epson?) you can buy a small tool that somehow resets the cartridge chip (so if you refill cartridges yourself); possibly there is something similar for HP ink jet cartridges.

In order for your printer to read the cartridge as full the chip on the toner will need to be replaced/reset. Sadly these cartridges are unable to physically check toner levels and rely upon counting pages/page coverage to estimate.

on your toner cartridge there is a slot for a chip. Usualy the chip needs to be replaced on eache refil.
In your case you will need a chip for the toner cartridge so that your machine can continue to work.

The person refilling your toner needs to install the correct chip onto the toner cartridge. The chip stores the number of pages printer by that cartridge and is unique to each model printer, therefore an incorrect chip will not work. Good luck with that

The toner cartridges for the 8026 have a chip on them which count the amount of toner being dispensed from the toner cartridge.
When the printer counts the amount of toner being dispatched from the cartridge has exceeded the amount of "usable" toner in the cartridge, the printer will display the error showing the toner cartridge needs to be replaced.
Crucial the printer also "writes" to the chip on the toner cartridge to say it is empty----You can no longer use this cartridge by simply refilling it.

You need to replace the toner cartridge on the printer with a Genuine New 8026 toner, this should then clear the error automatically and the printer will again spring back to life.

If you are using a new toner you may;

1. Have a faulty replacement toner
2. Have a blockage in the pipe which takes the toner from the toner cartridge to the drum unit
3. Have a fault with the toner dispense motor

Perhaps you'll need to replace its lockout chip. Toner cartridges have a page counter and that needs to be reset after the cartridge has been refilled. Printing won't commence when the lockout chip has not be replaced with a compatible reset chip.

To clear chip after refilling toner cartriage.
Go to "Tonerfillyourself.com" I bought refill toner and it includes a new chip and it's not hard to replace it. (Comes with instructions)

Most likely the cartridge has its own chip that is not resetable.
