1/2 the screen is viewable

Only half of the image is viewable on my screen. the right side of the screen is dark

  • Anonymous Nov 07, 2007

One day I was using my projector and it was fine. I turned it off and then about a half hour later I turned it back on. I heard a 'ting ting ting" sound for a couple of seconds and later that day the right side of the image became black. I took out the lens and cleaned the vents, but this did not help. I will take a look at the manual and see if I dare take it apart and look for a loose mirror.

I have an InFocus ScreenPlay 4805 Projector. I am experiencing a darkening of the right side of the screen. There is a soft line separating the dark right side from the left. I have checkd this with several discs both color and B&W with the same result.

You would be wrong. Lamps do not do that. They either work or they don't, they do not cast shadows or give half an image.

What is going on is the light tunnel has failed. It is a small, 4-sided mirrored tunnel that focuses the light into the optical chamber. It is directly behind the color wheel. I've seen this probelm dozens of times.

I had the same problem and discovered it was the mirror tunnel. located after the colour wheel. one of the mirrors had come loose and eventually touched the other side. this was the problem on mine. it could be worth a check.

I had the same problem. I removed the lamp housing and cleaned all the vents and it improved. Now only about 3 inches on the right side of the screen appear to have a shadow cast on them. I've submitted a query to InFocus and hope to get a reply. I'm betting its a lamp problem.

I just started getting the same problem, seemingly out of nowhere. Have you figured out a solution, or even just the cause? - Thanks.

Samsung 65 inch TV. Problem with half dark screen. Replaced the T-Con. The half dark screen went away, but the image on the side that was dark is moved over to far. Checked it was correct board.

Fault with its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Vizio lcd flatpanel tv with dark background

If half screen is affected it will be either a board (LCD and Plasma have different names) but in those one board drives each side of the screen unit--worst case is the display panel itself which is fatal from a cost point of view.

My lightning got really dark and i can barely see anything,i have to put the frame really up close to see a little bit.im not sure why it got like that.need help

LCD screens have a backlight. When the backlight starts to dim it will eventually completely fail, causing the image to be really dark, barely viewable. You will need to replace the LCD screen, or replace the entire unit.

Sounds like 1 of your back-lights has failed. You will have to take it in to get fixed

The screen went dark on jmv 111

Dark as in gone or dark as in the image is still viewable?  How does the onscreen menu look when the image is dark/gone?  If the onscreen menu looks right and the image is still dark, you might want to check the cables or another input.  If another device using different cables and another input looks fine, you may only have a problem with the input/cable you are using to view the movie.  If the onscreen menu is also dark, then I would think there is an internal problem that needs looking into.

Centering problem

Sounds like it could be a "light tunnel" ~~ can you see a full but unevenly lit image in a dark room?
If so it should be. Made of polycarb mirrors and they fall to bits.
