Was using my ipad and it just locked up. I've hit all the buttons and it doesn't do anything. I've held down the start/stop button and only the apple symbol appears and then does nothing. any suggestions?
If you've got a locked up iPad app or otherwise misbehaving iPad, and
want to reboot / reset your iPad, simply hold the sleep and home
buttons together until the iPad restarts.
You'll see the shutoff slider come up first, but just keep holding.
The screen will go blank and the Apple logo will reappear as the iPad
reboots.
Note: this does not reset any data on your iPad. This is just a restart, equivalent to rebooting your computer.
You will have to do a restore of your iPad to its initial state if you have forgotten the password,
go into itunes and do a restore...

If it can not reboot, you should bring it back to the Apple store for help.
Or call the Apple service center.

Be sure that hard reset retains all data and settings on iPad, it doesn't delete anything. If you want to start over and delete all personal data from iPad you should use iPad Recovery Mode.
