I have several of these scanners that were working fine. Since they were not in use every day, I put them aside until such time that one that is currently in production goes down or we need extra for stock taking purposes. Now that I have taken them out for use, all of the scanners come up fine, but when I use the scanner, none of the lasers come on. I can understand that one may go bad, or maybe even two. But for all of them to go bad is a bit weird to me. This suggests that somehow they have somehow become "locked" because of lack of use. Any ideas?

What barcode scanner do you have? USB, SERIAL or ps2.
by the way. the old computer is it like NCR, SIEMENS or IBM because then you need to re-program your scanner.
i found a manual where you can set your pc type with barcode scanner. be careful not to scan reset defaults. because you will loose your settings.
look at chapter 4-9 and 4-10

It will either be the trigger or the scanner ribbon. More likely to be the trigger.

This sounds like a programming issue. What application are you using? If you are using a terminal emulation software then you will need to check your host for the issue. If you are using a batch program where the files are stored on the scanner then you will need to check your "validation" files to make sure the code you are scanning is in the scanner.
