Keypad problem Plugged in machine. Light comes on inside bucket area. Keyboard does not come on. No beep when plugged in. None of the buttons work. Nothing on screen, totally blank.

Don't try this unless you know what you're doing. But, if all else fails, give it a shot. I tried the fixya solutions, but none of them worked. Since I still had power to the light when I opened the lid, I assumed it was a problem with the keypad microprocessor. With the breadmaker plugged in, remove the ribbon cable connector connected to the PCB board. This will short the pins leading to the keypad. You might have to touch the connector to the pins on the circuit board a few times to make the microprocessor go "wacko" and reset itself. Once you hear the beep, the display should be working. If the convection fan or motor starts running while trying to get the display to work again just hit the reset on the keypad and choose any cycle and hit the start button. It may take 30 seconds or so for the machine to reset itself to normal operation. If anyone knows which pins to short out, I can solder in a reset button, so if this ever happens again I won't have to open the control panel. Or maybe the keypad needs to be properly grounded.

Mine was dead out of the box new. I ended up taking the circuit board off and running a dental pic along the solder joints of the two microchip processors. I now works so the joints must have been touching.

I did the second part of Solution #2 (open up the control panel with unit unplugged)but instead of grounding wires, I removed the twelve pin plug (with gray twelve wire flat wire) and reinstalled it. I suspect that the machine needed to be reset because of the 60 minute power failure feature. This happened to me because I first was setting things up and had to leave the house for several hours and unplugged the unit. When I returned, plugged it in and got no display even though power was going to the unit. Next time, I will first try the first part of Solution #2.

I had the same problem with my Breadman. Was planning to try the above suggestions, but when I plugged it in again, it started working normally. All I did was leave it unplugged for 24 hours. Go figure . . .

The problem is caused by improper shutdown. Plug it in then press and hold for 3-4 seconds. Then unplug it, wait 3-4 seconds and plug it in. If that doesn't work, repeat the entire procedure. If it still doesn't work,unplug it and remove the three screws from the control panel assembly, and pop off the control panel, remove the bottom cover of the control panel and with a probe, one by one, ground out the five wires that are covered with a soft vinyl insulator: White, Blue, Black, Yellow, Red. Reassemble and it should beep when you plug it in.

First thing to try is to check the power transformer/rectifier for the board (or get someone electrically minded to do it), then if no luck contact toastmaster - the details are on the last page of the manual with the warranty information. You should be able to get a replacement board, although check the price first. Hope this helps :)
