I have a zenith p42w34 that has popped a capacitor on the lower right side of the zsus board! Its the small black square one on the right just below the plasma ribon connection! I replaced the zsus board and had a perfect picture for about 5 minutes and the same one popped again! what needs to be replaced to fix this from popping again! Any help is appriciated! Thanks

are you getting any lights on the boards at all?
i get some red lights on the main middle board, some yellowish green on the bottom left.. but no lightsd on the ysus or zsus.

Turn off the TV then unplug it. Disconnect the cable connection and clean the terminals. If the stripes still exist, you have a bad TCP (tape carrier package). It is responsible in transmitting color information to the display panel from the X-Drive (A-Bus) Board. This is not an easy repair. Service of an experienced or a qualified technician is recommended.
Apparently these boards eat each other when you get the loud "Pop", then shutdown, so I had to change the Y sus, Zsus and both Y driver boards at the same time, to repair. Keep that in mind.
Its not the CRT, its the Y Sustain board.. This happened to mine 30 minutes ago.. and has happened to every owner of a plasma tv that uses the toshiba Y Sustain board..
I had the same problem. We replaced the Y Sustain board. It was under $200 and not at all hard to do yourself. Remove the back of the tv. Make sure you watch what screw goes where. You will see the board on the left side. The number should be on the bottom right corner of the board. Just watch how you removed the board making small notes as to what goes where. Its really not that hard and you can save 600$ or more

common problems with these, usually customers here a loud pop. then the screen goes blank. I would try...
Some of these have a 4 pin test on the control board that you can jump with solder to get test pattern. If you get it to do that then these boards maybe good and would replace the control board. if nothing happens, then
the upper & lower drive also the Ysus and Zsus boards all at the same time.
last could be a defective panel.
hope this helps. p/n are on all the boards.
try inspecting all caps to see if anything poped out the top or leaky. if none, try replacing the zsus, ysus and upper and lower driver boards. must do all at the same time.
