There are bowed lines showing on my photos in playback/display and when transferred to computer. Videos replay just fine. Have I changed some setting that is causing this. Also, when I go to snap the picture, it clicks when recording (I don't remember if it always did this). Pictures look great ... except for those pesky lines. :-) I've barely used this camera. Thoughts?
Lines displayed on your pictures during play back seem to be a common problem with some of the models of fuji that I have repaired and all that I can suggest for a reason for this is Moisture in the lens unit. The lens unit on the Fuji E900 for example has 4 shutter leaves that decrease the amount of light that hits the sensor. Like your eye when you look at strong light. And 7 or 8 other leaves below the first 4 to control the light further. These are operated by electro magnets and guided on plastic slides. So, when moisture gets in and collects over time it seems to stick the shutter leaves together and the camera no longer controls the amount of light accurately enough and you get wierd and wonderfull paterns on your pictures. So far 4 fuji E900's and 1 E550 I have found this problem with moisture and It Isn't a quick job to fix either. But it is possible if you know what you are doing.
Hope this is of some help
Video does not use the shutter so should be fine. Solution is simple enough but getting to the shutter involves stripping the lens down almost completely. Some parts of this lens are non repairable so once they are assembled breaking the securing clips whilst dissassembling will render them useless. GREAT care is needed during repair as the flash unit is still charged and will give quite a shock even when camera is switched off and batteries removed so watch out!
so are you referring to take it to service center for service or any other fixes for it..
This is no job for a beginner. Because the lens is virtually sealed inside the camera body changes in temperature result in moisture forming inside the camera. The fuji manual will tell you to allow time for this to disapate and the camera to adjust to the enviroment temp before use. If too much moisture builds up and can't evaporate then it tends to leave a sticky residue behind. this stops the shutter working. As i've said before, cleaning is the only real solution and if your not up to it then sending to a fuji repair place is the only answer.
