HP 2840 - printing 10x15 photos

Hi
I am trying to print a small photo on my HP 2840, When i use the manual feed tray, and roll the guides in to fit the small size photo paper, it is obvious the printer is looking for an A4 size page - so the photo is printed on only one edge of my small page.
Even though I have selected page size of postcard - it is still asking for A4.
Can anyone help me?

Thanks
Lily

Make sure that the paper meets the specifications for use in your printer.

The paper you are trying to use may be to heavy to be moved correctly through the paper path.

When I try to print photos from a memory stick it fails to print and tells me to load paper glossy side down even though there is enough paper properly loaded. When I take out the paper the top sheet has...

The problem is that the metal paper stop is not fully recessing into the guide at the rear of the printer and the photo paper is catching on the lip on top of the stop. Take the back cover off the printer and check that the guide has not moved out of position. Also try to twist the photo paper tray to the left or right so the stop lines up better with the guide recess. This worked for my printer tempoarily, but then things went out of allignment again, so I took a slightly more drastic step. With only a single sheet of photo paper in the tray, print another photo. When the photo tray slides back to deliver the paper to the rollers, unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer to stop the tray from moving forward again. With a pair of needlenose pliers, bend the lip on top of the metal paper stop upward. This fixed my problem permanently.

My HP Photosmart D7260 is not printing pictures

Ok! You didn't tell me how old is the printer, what type of paper and what size you tried to print so I'll do my best to help.

Please note:
  • The photo paper cassette cannot be installed when printing on paper loaded in the in tray.
  • The 7260 printer support 5x7 media only when printing from a computer with the printer software installed.
Loading 5 x 7 inch paper in the HP Photosmart 7260 printer
  1. Lift the main cover of the printer, and slide the paper width guide as far to the left as it will go.
  2. Lift the Out-tray and place a stack of paper in the In-tray.
    • Load the paper with the side to be printed facing down.
    • Load paper in the portrait orientation with the shortest edge feeding into the printer.
    • Do not use too much or too little paper. It may be difficult for the printer to pick up a sheet of paper when there are only one or two sheets in the in tray.
    • Use one type and size of paper at a time. Do not mix paper types or sizes in the In-tray.
  3. Push the paper into the printer as far as it will go without bending.
  4. Lower the Out-tray.
  5. Adjust the paper width guide to fit snugly against the edge of the paper without bending the paper. The paper width guide holds the paper straight as it feeds into the printer.
  6. Close the main cover.
Load 4 x 6 inch (10 x 15 cm) photo paper in an HP Photosmart
Use the photo cassette to load 4 x 6 inch (10 x 15 cm) paper. To print borderless photos, use 4 x 6 inch photo paper with a 0.5 inch tab (10 x 15 cm with 1.25 cm tab). This allows the photo to print without borders on three sides and with a small border on the bottom edge that can be torn off.
HP does not recommend printing borderless photos on plain paper. Also, remove any paper from the In tray before inserting the photo cassette into the printer.
1. Lift the top cover of the printer and remove the photo cassette from the sheath.
2. Place up to 15 sheets of photo paper in the photo cassette with the side to be printed facing down. For tabbed paper, insert the paper so the tabbed end goes into the cassette first.
3. Lift the main cover.
4. Slide the paper width guide all the way to the left.
5. Lift the Out tray and remove any paper that is in the In tray.
6. Line the photo cassette up with the far right edge of the In tray.
7. Gently slide the photo cassette into the printer until it snaps into place.
8. Lower the Out tray.
9. Slide the paper width guide to the right until it cradles the photo cassette, then close the main cover.
If the Out of Paper message appears on the computer and the product stops picking up or feeding paper.
Step one: Reset the product
1. Without turning the product off, remove the power cord from the back of the product.
2. Wait 30 seconds and then plug the power cord into the back of the product.
3. If the product is not already on, use the On button to turn it on.
Step two: Check the condition of the paper and reload it
1. Replace any paper that is ripped, dusty, curled, wrinkled, or bent.
NOTE: Use only plain, white, unused paper in the product until the issue is resolved.
2. Make sure that all the paper is the same size and type. Because only one type of paper can be used in the product at a time, paper types should never be mixed.
3. Tap the stack of paper on a flat surface to align the edges.
4. Make sure that the stack of paper to be loaded in the product contains no fewer than 10 and no more than 25 sheets of paper.
NOTE: Do not load too much paper in the product.
5. Insert the stack of paper into the product and gently push the paper guides snugly against the paper. Make sure that the paper is completely inserted into the product and can be picked up by the paper rollers.
6. Try printing again. If the issue is not resolved, try loading different brands of paper and different types of paper, one type at a time, into the product and then try printing again.
If the issue persists, continue with the next step.
Step three: Adjust the paper settings in the print driver
The paper settings in the print driver must match the paper settings for at least one of the installed paper trays.
1. Open a document in the program being used to print.
2. Click File , click Print , and then click Properties . The product Properties dialog box appears.
3. Click the Paper/Quality tab.
4. Choose the appropriate paper size from the Size is drop-down menu.
5. Choose the appropriate paper type from the Type is drop-down menu.
6. Click OK and then click OK again to print the document..
7. If the issue is not resolved, continue with the next step.
NOTE: If the issue is resolved and it is necessary to print on another type of paper, load the new paper type into the product and then repeat steps 2 through 7 for the new paper. These changes do not change the default print settings. The print settings return to the default the next time the program is opened.
Step four: Clean the rollers
1. Turn off the product and unplug the power cord.
2. Open the access door to gain access to the rollers. Depending on the model, this is usually the rear access door. See the product user guide for information about locating the rollers.
3. Clean the rubber rollers with a lint-free cloth, lightly moistened with water.
NOTE: Distilled, filtered, or bottled water is recommended for cleaning the rollers. Tap water might contain contaminants that can damage the rollers.
4. Make sure that any paper rollers that rest on the input tray, which are located behind the back rollers, are cleaned. A clean cotton swab, lightly moistened with water, might be necessary to reach these rollers.
5. Close the access door and plug in the power cord.
6. Try printing again. If the issue is not resolved, continue to the next step.
Step five: Service the product
If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.
If your product is less than a year old, don't worry, HP can trace the product when you provide the model and the serial number and will help you if it is in warranty. No prove of purchase required.

Sorry - I didn't read this closely enough. You will not be able to print on 10x15 paper as the paper type is not supported by your printer.

This is a list from the specs of the supported paper sizes;

Supported paper sizes Letter, legal, executive, No. 10 envelopes, cards, borderless photo (4 x 6 in, 5 x 7 in, 8 x 10 in), borderless panorama (4 x 10 in, 4 x 11 in, 4 x 12 in)

Photo Paper Feed

hi,

the issue that you have might need to change some settings from the printing properties. WHen you hit on PRINT, a box will open, right? look on the top right of that box, you will see "PROPERTIES" or "Preferences" just click on it, then another box will open. Click on Printing Shortcuts tab, try to review the settings. And if you want to print using the main tray, it should set it to Automatic select or Main tray. And make sure that it sets to General Printing. But if youre going to print a photo, you will have options there to choose what type of paper when you click on that, the settings on the paper size, paper source, etc. will change also. For paper source, make sure that it sets to Photo Tray.

If you will be able to open printing preferences, all options are there, you just need to read and choose which settings you want to use.

Thank you so much.
