It sounds that the main board to this TV is damaged. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
I'm not certain but it sounds like there is a loose video cable in there...if you are able to, take the tv apart, and literally push on all of the connectors and cables to make sure they are not loose. The main video cable may not seem to be loose, but once it is making contact again, it should clear that mess up. Just look for cables running to the main screen and pull them off and put them back. Then put the tv back together again and see if it worked...it usually does. why does this happen? Some blame it on dust, others blame it on quick manufacturing processes...whatever the case, the cables become slightly seperated from the controller board and that happens...it also happens to computer monitors too...Good luck and take your time. If there are a lot of screws and things either take pictures of where they all went or write it down. I like to make a diagram on a piece of paper and tape the screws on the diagram to show where they went.
Howdy, If you want good sound from a Coby TV you need external speakers. Coby is one of the lowest end producers of televisions and are notorious for poor sound. Good news is that for what you saved by buying a coby, you are still ahead after buying external speakers and amp (often called home theater system, some have built in DVD player). That's the scoop on Coby. hope this helps some.
