I can't use nv-gs230 as a web camera on w2k.

I've connect my camcoder to pc through usb cable, install driver named as "Panasonic DVC DV stream device" and am able to transfer video to Motion DV software (Panasonic brand).
I also have tried to install driver "Panasonic DVC web camera device" and installation was almost successful, but at the end of the process I have obtain the error with code 10 "The device cannot start" .

This camcoder properly operates as web camera with windowsXP on other computer.
Please advise me.

    when i connnect camera i or my friend does not appear on screen

You can get the drivers (for the USB connection) at: http://www.panasonic.com.au/products...productID=5786 (Scroll down to "Documentation and Downloads")

For DV transfer via FireWire, you shouldn't need any drivers (but sometimes miniDV camcorders come along that break that rule!)

Connect with a firewire cable and open Windows Movie Maker, you should not need additional drivers or software.

How can i change my panasonic nv-gs230 mini dv
Best
1. Copy the video to your computer with WinDV. No "capturing" involved. The video resolution and PAL/NTSC format will be the same as the source.
2. Then convert to whatever format you like.


You could also use something that copy and converts the video directly from the DV, like convert to dvd with Ulead DVD Workshop.
DV is a fixed standard and comes in 50Hz and 60Hz versions.

50Hz ("PAL" 625/50) 720x576, 25fps interlace (aka 576i)
4:2:0 components, 25Mb/s Video Rate
LPCM audio 2ch 16bit 48KHz or 4ch 12bit 32kHz

60Hz ("NTSC" 525/60) 720x480, 29.97fps interlace (aka 480i)
4:1:1 components, 25Mb/s Video Rate
LPCM audio 2ch 16bit 48KHz or 4ch 12bit 32kHz

Meaning, You cannot change the camera. It is either a pal camera or a ntsc camera. Othewise you will have to by a firmware update from the manufacture's website.

Need Driver for Panasonic nv-gs230 Camcorder Software to download
You should be able to just plug a USB into the camera connect it to your computer.
The camcorder should come up as an drive in "MY computer"

Try renaming any video that are named *.moi to *.mpg
if they wont play.

The Panasonic NV gs 15 can only be used as a webcam with the USB cable.
You need a 1394 firewire / DV cable to transfer the video to your pc.

Panasonic pv gs29
Our model numbers in South africa are nv-gs47 etc. I know that all the new models like the pv-gs29 you dont have to use the firewire port on the camera, it is better to use the usb port because it is usb 2 you can do video streaming. The usb port is also more reliable than the dv port.So just check in the manual if this unit can use the usb port instead. i am more than sure it can.
