It may be that you accidentally ordered it twice, and they've just canceled the second order. You have to login to amazon and ask there.

Have you tried a reset? It clears up many problems that just happens for no reason. To delete books from your device, go to Amazon an use thier Manage my Kindle it removes them completely.

On the Kindle home screen, tap and hold the book until a menu pops up, then select "Delete."

If you've already tried deleting the book on the kindle itself, have you tried plugging in the kindle (to your computer), navigating to the Documents folder inside and deleting the actual book file?

Unfortunatelly Kindle does not have this feature. But the books you read get pushed down the list.
Or you can delete the book by using these steps:

1. Select a book and click the left arrow on the 5-way button that brings up a delete button the screen.
2. Press the center button and you delete the book.

Another option is to move the book to a collection this is like to archive the books you already read.
