This model was recalled in the USA and part of a massive program where the set was replaced (working or not) as part of a class action lawsuit there---
Panasonic had to recycle the sets but told us they wanted nothing in them and we were free to take whatever we wanted---they paid our shop to pick up the old sets and deliver the replacements.
That said, the issue this model had was lamps did not last very long in them---the ballast the fires the lamp was the problem but by the time they figured out a cure it was too late---too many people and lawyers were involved.
For a while Panasonic considered them a dead duck and no parts etc were available---no tech support for them as well.
If the lamp has not been examined (it can look perfect and be gone) it should. Also look to see if when turned on the lamp comes on or not if even just for a moment.
Based on the history of this set I would not take one in for any kind of repair or suggest spending any real money on it.
Google the model number with "problems" to get a idea.
Testimonial: "Thank you , my friend retired tech. looked at it , and chaged the balast and the lamp TV did not turn on anyway, he told me to put itin the garbage. We allready replace this TV with Samsung, never Panasonic again."

It very well could be the ballast. I unfortunately have this tv and keep extra bulbs because they go out about once a year. Last time when I replaced the bulb the tv blinked and the red lamp light flashed like it does when the bulb is bad. Ballast repair kit fixed it up. This is certainly a design issue but you'll get no help from Panasonic. If tv comes on the goes out after a while, clean the fan filter.

Power on the set, listen for afaint buzzing sound as the set tries to fire up. If you do not here it then your lamp driver, or ballast is most likely faulty. Also make sure you have the door and all covers back in place and secure. And make sure you insatlled an orginal panasonic lamp because some generic will not work.

I would invest in a ballast rebuild and then a lamp, in that order.
