On a modern washer there will be an Engineers Program which is invoked by a key combination press. You can control all the functions from there and do tests. 1200 rpm is the Ideal speed for a washing machine for good reasons... Ask any Woman this !!
Google your Model with Engineer Program etc.

Sounds like the belt that spins the washing drum is slipping. It my need to be adjusted or replaced, or try washing a smaller load of laundry.

GE wpdh8900jmg front load does not go to highest speed spin. It does go to the lower speed spins

call your G.E. authorized dealer because theres a recall on this unit,or call G.E. directly or go online to find out how to get warranty service at NO COST to you,as theres a problem with these machines and the problem your having is a recall issue by GE company, the unit needs to be re-programmed during spin or theres a chance the basket can breach the top cabinet during spin cycle call them SOON,all serial numbers for that model are covered under this warranty

Hi! My GE front loading washer is stopping during the spin cycle, and will not spin. The problem was preceded by louder than usual spin cycles. Any suggestions??

Sounds like the main center bearing is going bad that's why it is not wanting to spin on its own and is also making the loud noise when its spinning i.e. sounding like a jet engine firing up or metal grinding noise. The bearing is probably welded to the shaft now. I would not repair this very expensive cost around $300 to $600 to fix I would go buy a good quality used one or a new one sorry for the bad news but that's what it is I see 2 of these a week in my shop same problem but hope this helps.

My GE Wizard Washer will agitate or spin for a very short time.

replace the transmission. this job is better done after a few dozen bottle of your favorite whiskey. Check the timer controls to ensure timer is advancing properly. tranny's are notorious on ge's for this sort of problem as well as inner basket drive blocks coming loose. ge makes alot of great appliances, this just happens to be one of them that isn't. i trust their jet engines too, although hard to work on them from 30,000ft.

How to lift the lid on our top loading GE washer

It does just lift up but it is held in place with clips that are forced into openings so you have to use some force to separate the two.

slide a putty knife in the crack and work it around. as you do so it will start to open for you.

If the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag®), a worn clutch (GE®/Hotpoint®), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component.

Alternatively, there could be clothes caught between the inner and outer tubs. Read the "It spins but won't pump" section of the "It won't drain" section. Also, there could be other things that cause friction on the drive train. Seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

Jet engine??!!

Friend,
ngafm at your service!
How old is the washer?
It sounds like the tire out of balance syndrome!
Like a car tire that sings or vibrates when it's out of balance!
It may be a worm part thats spinning and you should call service and not take any chances, with this matter!
How long has it been sounding like this?
