Sony Trinitron Kv24Fv12

This TV just stopped working. It is only 6 years old. When the power button is turned on there are 8 clicking sounds and then it shuts off. Do the 8 clicks suggest what may be wrong? Any other suggestions as to what to check?

I have the same TV and it is doing exactly the same thing - taking it to the TV repair shop today

Same issue, turned itself off then when trying to power back on just clicks then nothing.

From your description the flyback transformer has failed causing the high voltage to load down, if the TV is 10 years old or more, consideration should be given investing in a new set.

Did you get your set fixed or did you replace it? My same set did the same thing. Turned it off for 2-3hrs after watching it and when I tried to power it up- nothing but the sound it would normally make just before the major power up, sort of a relay click sound. No picture or sound but the red light blinks non-stop.

Your tv is going into protection mode. It can only be repaired by a tv repairman. The problem is normally the power supply or line out put satge.

Stand by light blinks 6 times, wont power on

Here you find sony blinking codes

SIX Blinks---No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking selfdiagnosis
function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.

SEVEN Blinks---High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k
and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply
regulation and horizontal circuits.
