    same problem: 6a00 and "check printer".  just moved, fedexed printer to myself, packed well.  initial problem in setting up again was "inner cover open". finally got rid of that message then others appeared.

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.

Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.

Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

Solution 3:
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.

    Got down to solution 3. I pressed down on the pads down with toilet paper to absorb any ink and there was quite a bit. Do they need replacing or should I just repeat that operation every once in a while?

6A00 is AP position error.First, make sure there is no paper jam anywhere in the machine.. look inside, rear, where the paper tray (output) is, etc to see if you find any shreds or torn paper that may have gotten stuck and you didn't see.Look carefully in the zone of Purge unit, using flashlight in the right side on printer.If this not help your printer need service.

On printer screen it is showing Error 6A00 and error code. Whats does this mean and how can I fix it
In my IP 3000 during a print suddenly on the 3rd page, a big "crunch" sound. Paper was jammed - error 5100 or smthg, and managed to remove the paper... but then error 6A00 came up. I found this post and was saved. Manually moved the print head left and right, turned the printer on/off. Still the same error. Then I noticed a piece of torn paper lodged inside. Removed that, got inky fingers, and finally got printer in working condition.
Try to clean any foreign object inside.May be it can help you.

Canon mp 530 error message 6A00. green and yellow flashing lights. I turned it off and back on and still won't print and lights still flashing.
I have a MP530 and had the 6A00 error code. I just took cotton swab with acohol and clean two clear plastic peices inside by the head cleaner and it fix the problem

6A00 is a problem with the sheet feed unit.
Follow Canon's suggestion, take it or send the unit UPS to the Authorized Repair Facility.
You will NOT be able to resolve the problem yourself.

6A00 error
The error seems to indicate a failed sheet feed, check the paper path to see for any stuck bits of paper, however I have heard that this can also be caused by a flaky sensor in the paper path.....

apparently the best way to deal with this is to turn it upside down and give it a shake.
