Go to the Dewalt Servicenet site (they own Delta) at http://servicenet.dewalt.com/. Put your model number, 17-924, in the parts search box (with the dash, otherwise it can't find it) and you'll go to a page where you can view or download the parts breakdown and instruction manual.

SOURCE: The shaft on my Delta floor mdoel press drill keeps sliding out

This sounds like a morse taper adaptor. if so look at the taper for any unusual wear. if none what I would do is get something like brake clean or similar product to remove all oil and grease. clean the shaft and the internal socket. wipe off with cleam paper towel after cleaning. retract the chuck jaws to prevent damage to the chuck and align the tang on adaptor with the internal socket. Take a piece of wood and hammer and hit the chuck seating the taper. You can also try using the table with a block of wood and the feed handle to seat it. If it continues to fall you have worn parts that need replaced. Good luck

Need the best bit for drilling through books without tearing internal pages

If you use a brad point bit or forstner bit or any bit that cuts around the circumference of the hole, you will create a disc of paper (several pages thick) that will spin at the bottom of the hole and impede your drilling, so those are out. If you use a standard twist drill you get a very rough hole and the pages tend to lift up. The simplest and cheapest is a standard twist drill but with scraps wood above and below the book, clamping the book tight. You might try a plug cutter that has an exit hole for the little discs of paper. Or, use a paper drill bit, these are about $40 and I have never tried one.

I have an old Delta D-220 drill press. While the chuck spins true, even at high speed, a drill bit will have a slight wobble towards the end of the bit. I tried many bits so its not a bent bit. Solutions? ...

You are right, but if the wobble is not too big to do drill jobs it can be used.Sometimes drill jobs need to be precise,so the you will need it just aligned.

Try at eReplacementParts.com : Power Tool Parts and Tool Repair Diagrams or go direct to this link.

Good price and service.

I am using a Delta 17-950L drill press that when I use a 2" Forster bit the spindle stops. drill press is new and have cut approximately 100 2" holes. thought that the bit was dull so I purchased a new bit...

This sounds like a belt tension problem. If the motor pulley is still spinning but the spindle pulley is stopped try increasing the tension on the belts.
If both the pulleys slow down or stop together, then try reducing the spindle speed to give it more torque under load.

I purchased the delta mortising attachement and bits to use on my shopsmith drill press. As usual with the shopsmith, nothing but their products fit exactly. However with a few adjustmests I have it set...

They make special vises for drill presses. once attached your surface is adjustibal from 0 to 90 dergees. Spme accessories you atach to the plate will allow x and y movement by turning the handle so if you get both there is no angle you can't work...just like a machinest.
