My Nikon D80 digital camera is giving me a fault R 11 and is not functioning. What does this mean? After taking one photo with the flash the battery light begins flashing even though it is all charged?
I just bought my D80. When I put the camera on "on" I get a flashing FEE in the right corerner of the top display. When pressing the "shot" button it only produces "r11" and nothing happens. I have the same problem on my 18 month old camera.I sent it to Nikon who said it needed a new SB/IF Base plate which would cost £126.15 with labour. I am now taking it up with Purleygadgetswhere I purchased the camera after talking to the local trading standards

Hi nrkelkar, In the D80 manual page 36 it speaks about the buffer. What you see as an error message is r with a number. The number is how many shots the buffer at that moment can handle. It is not an error message.
The r11 is in the lower right of the top LCD or view finder that is in the D80 manual page 36 it speaks about the buffer. The r with a number is how many shots the buffer at that moment can handle. It is not an error message. For auto focus issue is the lens in AF as well as the camera?
I belive this isn't a fault but more to do with how you are using the camera. The r09 message is to do with the camera buffer and how many more pictures it can hold. You do have a memory card installed, right? The r09 is normally not an error, but simply an indicator of how many more pictures you can take in the current burst before the buffer fills. The number will vary according to the image quality and size settings.
