Volume is stuck at max and the only button on my side panel that works is the volume down. if you hold the button in the volume stops. as soon as you release it goes back up. cannot change channels because the volume up is stuck in. or thats how it seems. i know its the side panel and not the controller

the problem lies in themain board in the tv. you can buy one from ebay for around $80 used. its not to bad to replace either. just remove the back panel the main board it the tin/ metal wit hthe ciruit board in it on the left side same side as the power botton just unplug the 5-7 wires and unscrew the 2-3 screws and carfully side that board out and replace with a new workign one and put back together and you should be good to go.

SOURCE: cannot turn tv off with power button or remote , must unplugpower
It could be a stuck button on the set. check to make sure they all feel the same.. If one don't feel right try to free it .. If a button is stuck it wont let any of the others work or the remote.

A variety of remote control codes can be found at InsigniaProducts.com. Failing that, try codes for the following brands: Orion, Emerson, Memorex, Sansui, Sylvania, Zenith.
SOURCE: Locking Controls of Insignia 40'' LCD TV
Alas, I have been through this with my children and unfortunately outside of a Parental Channel lock, I have not heard of a vendor who has created the capability of locking the set controls. It's just the unfortunate case that the controls are accessible to the child (I have another TV where they are on top and even my 9 yr old can't reach them - ha ha).Sorry my friend.
