fixed it. checked the blade by drum, it was loose, pushed it in, makes copies, but now it gives out smeared copies. cleaned most components as I could reach it, but still copies have dark shades and lines all over the pages.

Hi,
U2-40 is the error code for the toner cartridge.
It indicates a fault with the chip in the cartridge.
Try entering simulation mode to reset the error first, to do this make sure the machine is in COPY mode.
Then press the following 4 keys in order: #*C*
then enter 16 & press the copy start key.
Then follow the instructions on the screen to reset U2 error.
When complete, press CA key to exit simulation mode.
If the error re-occurs then the toner cartridge will have to be replaced & the machine reset again as above.
Hope this helps.
Dave.
the DK message means it is time to replace the black drum unit. the drum unit is called an ARC26DU. open the front cover. remove the toner cartridge/s by lifting the green
lever and pulling the toner out. Open the left side door. look at where
you just pulled out the toner and there is one screw (facing you)
holding each drum in place - loosen the screw and pull the drum unit out
towards you....slide in the new drum unit. to reset drum counter go into SIM mode by pressing the following keys one after the other "P" "*" "C" "*" then 24 and start/copy key then 7 then select the color drum you are replacing and confirm reset. make sure copier restarts afterwards
DO NOT refill these toner cartridges (even if you can find someone to do it) The toner cartridges for these machines have generally had ongoing problems as far as longevity and quality - refilling them will only make it worse.
Hello sir; F2 have a sub code, press print key to read the sub code, if the sub code is 04,then it means wrong cartridge,wrong country, you can try to reset it;
1, press "#", "interrupt", "c", "interrupt" keys.
2, enter 14 press start.
3, if it work, don't forget give me a good rating.
You could try to reset the machine with a simulation code 14, which to perform it: 1. Push Clear, Auto, Clear, Auto in a steady rythmic fashion. If done correctly the screen will go blank and all the lights will turn off. If done incorrectly wait 15 seconds then try again. Clear is the red "C" and auto is on the left hand side, the word auto directly above the button.
2. Once you're into this mode enter the number 14 as if you were doing 14 copies then push the green copy key.
If the L6 returns after the reset then you will need service on the machine, Sharp will fix it for a flat rate charge of $140.00 for parts and labor out of warranty. Give them a call 1800 237 4277 in this case.
Generally F codes have to do with the finisher(used to be called a sorter). with the machine off, diconnect the finisher cord from the copier and power back on. This should allow you to test the copier. I'm not sure on this model how exactly the finisher cord comes out. but it should be self explanitory when you see it.
H3-XX codes involve the fusing unit temperature being too low or too high.
Try resetting the error.
[C] – [INTERRUPT] – [0] – [INTERRUPT]
Type in 1 4
Hit [PRINT]
Turn power off then on if it doesn't do it automatically.
If error doesn't reset then you have other trouble
I hope you ran the developer setup and reset all of the parts counters for the items you replaced. Not setting the developer reference can cause a host of problems.
Sim 25-02 adjusts developer. Sim 42 clears DV counter
WHEN THE SHARP AR-5316 PHOTOCOPIER IS SWITCHED ON THE ERROR CODE 4H APPEARSAND THE MACHINE CANNOT BE OPERATED. IHAVE TRIED THE SOLUTION SUGGESTED JUNE THIS YEAR BUT IT DID NOT WORK. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET THE MACHINE TO WORK? IT IS VERY URGENT.
