LG 50PC3D 50 in. Plasma Television Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 07, 2012

I have an LG 50pc3d plasma tv. I recently turned on my tv and it made a pop and then I had sound and then no picture. I have read on here to look for puffed up capacitors on the power supply and I found several and replaced them, still have the same issues. I have noticed when I turn on the TV that the power lite blinks green 4 times and then stays solid... Thanks for any help

Check for defective component part at the z and y sustain board.

It is most likely the power supply. If you see domed caps change them using a higher voltage cap. If it's 1000uf at 15vdc put in a 1000uf at 25 or 35 vdc. If this helps let me know.

The TV should be under warranty. Send back. Sounds like the panel is faulty (half the value of the set).

The lights indicate what the issue is. Kind of like your check engine light in your car tells you something is wrong with the engine.

SOURCE: LG 42PX4MVH PLASMA TV - Sound but no picture.

I have the same issue with my LG 42PC3DVA and I narrowed it down to the Y SUS board. After a little research there are a few items that are prone to go. The ceramic fuses (as you found), sometimes the capacitors on the Y SUS, Z SUS, and power supply go along with them You can tell because thy will be bulged at the top instead of flat. I replaced a few of my capacitors - they are only $0.89 each so it was MUCH cheaper than a board.

The other thing that is common on the Y SUS in particular are the FETs (also called MOSFET). They can be replaced if you are good with a soldering gun but they are static sensitive so be grounded. They are also a bit tricky to test so you may want to do some research on how to determine if this is the issue... or you can just replace the whole board.

If there was a loud POP! sound when it turned off then you will have to replace a sustain board.

If there wasn't, then you're more likely facing either a power board or main board replacement. It can;t be said which one of the two based only on the described behavior - can be either.

No Picture on LG 50PC3D

No power?
Unplug power cord- safety first!
open backcover
check powersupply- top center right is p.s.
top left side of powersupply you'll see 5 capacitor 3300uF 10V.
see any pop up on top? replace it All with same rate or 16v is O.K.
do not use temperature rate 75c. Use 105C.
if you know how to solder. you could save $300 at least!
