With any model of Panasonic Toughbook, the proper diagnostics would be to plugin an external monitor when the Toughbook in powered off, then turn on the power on the external monitor first and then finally turn on the Toughbook. If the problem is the video card then no image will display on the external monitor.

If you get an image on the external monitor, then the problems is the internal LCD screen.

The external monitor connects on the back or rear side of the CF29 in the external monitor port or VGA connector. This connector is typically "blue" in connector and has 15 pins (3 rows of 5 pins).

Good Luck and Regards from:

Have you tried hooking up an external monitor? If you hook it up and see video on that it's a screen issue. If you hook it up and it does the same white thing it's bad video on the motherboard.

Horizontal line on screen sometimes

Generally horizontal lines are caused by the panel failing, you can try a new tcon but I don't think it will help.

Cf 29 touchscreen

The connection to the board should be under the panel with the speakers, at the top of the keyboard. (that's where it is on my cf72) Also check the connection on the touch screen by pulling the front case from around the screen. There are screws hidden under the small rubber bumpers on the lid.

Hello there,
there are clear pictures on page 29 and 29 of the instruction manual. The card will only go in one way -so don't attempt to force it .

Horiz. sharp line from 2 inch bottom

If the screen is part of your laptop/notebook/netbook, try to connect an external monitor to the VGA port, to see if the video-card in your computer is generating the "weirdness".

If the screen is an external monitor, try connecting it to a different computer, to see if the "weirdness" follows to the new computer,
implying that the monitor is faulty. Also, connect a diffferent monitor to your computer, to see if the video-card is causing the problem.
