My batteries ran out, so I replaced them with Panasonic AA's, brand new. Green indicator light flashes and camera refuses to turn on. I have tried many different batteries, new and used, but none of them work. I have also tried pressing the battery cover while turning it on. Needless to say, nothing worked. Does anyone have a WORKABLE solution to this issue, other than getting a new one or pressing the battery cover???My batteries ran out, so I replaced them with Panasonic AA's, brand new. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.
Press right on the multiselector (marked with a one-handed clock) to cycle through the self-timer modes. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button as usual.
That could mean a lens failure. Try to hook up adapter to computer if you haven't tried new batteries. Lens failure is quite common and it is best to spend a few bucks at a camera shop instead of trying to force it to work.

Press cursor-left (marked with a lightning bolt) to bring up the flash menu. Select the lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it to turn off the flash. Full details are in the "Flash/Left button" section beginning on page 28 of this manual.
Make sure you are using the correct batteries, and that they are installed correctly. Some cameras require more powerful kinds of batteries and will not work with the cheaper kinds. A blinking light can mean something is wrong with the power, not enough or something else. If you have a power adapter or can get one, you may try that, to see if the camera will work without batteries. If it does, then some problem exists in the battery circuit.
If it won't turn on (the green light blinks and it beeps 3 times) push and hold
the 'power' button and the 'play' button at the same time for a few seconds - it
worked for my S730. Good luck!
