I don't recommend Hitachi TVs to anybody. Bought two Black Friday a few years back. One was in the family room that has not been used for quite a while. Every once in awhile the TV would be turned on for about 5 minutes and then turned back off. Now all it's doing is saying please wait. For me to get it to turn on period. I had to do a whole lot of stuff that YouTube told me to do. Now stuck with a blue to black screen with (Please wait...

Could be the signal board has a bad cap, in this case it sounds like you are getting intermitten power to the inverters....when the tv goes down and of course you have audio....Shine a flashlight on to screen and see if you have a picture...look carefully. If this is the case..you have the above problem!

SOURCE: tv turns on screen displays Please Wait then goes black

There's a problem with the power board communicating properly with the interface board aka 'main board'. There's seems to be a logic problem here _Data-Bus interference. This could be because of DC voltage shut down or an under-voltage condition on the power supply board. Also the serial data too and from the Timing control board could also cause a similar problem. You can send the power board and interface board too me and I'll repair the problem for you. Or if you have some test equipment I can show you what to test.

Get back too me when you can.

Most likely you have a fault in the back light circuit. To verify this, turn on the set, when the screen goes black, take a bright flashlight and shine it on the screen. It may be easier to dim the lights in the room so that you can see the faint image on the screen. If you see the faint image, you indeed have a back light problem. You will need to get a diagnoses performed on the set to track down the problem

If this is an LED set I'd look at a backlight error, some lamps in the panel are bad and the power supply is shutting down the LED supply voltage because of over current or under voltage.

Trying to replace the empty black toner cartridge. I go through the steps to do this as outlined in the manaul. I get the screen that tells me "Please Wait." And I wait and wait and wait, and nothing...

Instead of following the directions as outlined in the manual, to have the printer turn the drum so I could extract the empty cartridge, I cut out a couple steps, by just reading the printers status display window. Followed the links that took me to where it said Replace Empty Toner Black, pressed the Menu Select button, and was given the OK to open the lid and door and replace the empty cartridge.
