Do you get sound from audio files located on your computer's hard drive? If so then the fault lies with either the CD or the actual CD drive itself.

Clean the CD using a cotton cloth and also try a few disks to be sure. You may need to update your media player to a newer version.

Claim warranty support if possible.

Take care!

Hi in front of the CD-ROM drive there should be a small pin size hole. Stick a pin in there to release the CD-ROM lock and it should open.

Cd rom not recognizable, but came with laptop?

it sounds like you have a bad cd-rom. before replacing, you might want to try deleting the cd-rom drivers from the system manager and see if that helps.

I have no sound after i had formatted my pc

I am assuming you don't have the CD Rom for sound driver installation , am I right ? you can get a Sound Blaster or Creative CD rom to install the sound drivers, etc. If you do have the CD Rom the file for your sound system could be hidden somewhere in your computer. Do a "search" on your Start button search for the sound software it originally had.

HOW TO INSTALL SOUND CARD DRIVERS WITH CD ROM

Hi,
Providing the CD Rom, is the same software as the sound-card.
If the sound card, is a seperate ( Add-On ) the drivers cd should accompany the card. if there are no drivers with the card. you can usually visit the manufacturers website ( Support centre ) And download the Drivers.
Additionally, you may have to disable the on-board sound-card ( Via The Bios ) and instruct the computer to start up, with the required or installed card.
If you are running an operating system, such as Windows XP, it should automatically detect and install the best drivers for the device. although you may not get full functionability.
If you install from CD Rom, ensure the card is installed first, then insert the CD, and open to find the Icon ( setup.exe Or Similar )

Computer

Hi Diviola, you have no choice but to buy a CD-ROM drive. They are not as expensive as you might think. You're windows CD can format the hard drive in you're computer before installing windows. Some people can use a USB memory stick but in order to copy the windows CD software to the memory stick you'll still need a CD-ROM drive. A 2GB or 1GB memory stick will cost as much or more than a CD-ROM drive. Please click on the link to see some prices for a standard CD-ROM drive.

The link above is a CD-ROM drive & can also make CD-RW's (RW stands for re-write).
You can replace you're CD-ROM drive you're self. Just do not disconnect the cables from you're old CD-ROM drive untill you have the new drive. Connect the cables to the new drive (one at a time) as you disconnect them from the old CD-ROM drive.
Double check that the cables are tightly connected before you power up the PC. Load you're windows CD into the new CD-ROM drive & when you start you're PC up windows will start to load.
When you receive the new CD-ROM drive & if you need help connecting & running anything. You can come back here & ask questions. I'll help you through this.

Luck!

No sound from my dell 8300

  1. Make sure the speakers are plugged into the CD-ROM drive headphone jack.
  2. Reboot the system and press F12 at POST to enter the one time boot menu.
  3. If Boot to Utility Partition is an option, select it; otherwise insert the Resource CD into the CD drive and select ATAPI CD-ROM.
  4. Select Boot from CD-ROM and choose the correct options to enter the 32bit Dell Diagnostics.
  5. Run the Audio Tests within the utility.
this would let you know if the problem is with the sound card or the softare ie the drivers for the sound card
